I'm not able to copy/paste the contents of fix.txt. I keep getting some "Server" errors. I thought it was too big for one post, which is why I pasted the contents of SFCFix.txt in a separate post. However, I tried attaching it and I guess it is too big to attach as well. It is only 920KB!

Hello Klepton,

We will run a new SFC scan one more time because this file was repaired itself before, and sometimes SFC is unable to repair files but it says it does.

SFC Scan
1. Click on :startorb: and type cmd. When Command Prompt appears, right-click on it, and click Run as Administrator
2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
Code:
sfc /scannow
3. Once it finishes, copy and paste the following into the command-prompt window and press Enter.
Code:
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Right-click on this file and choose Send To...Compressed (zipped folder). Please upload this zipped file CBS.zip to this thread
Please Note
:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Hi Klepton,

SFC scan did not report any corruptions

Are you still having chkdsk checking for errors during boot? Are any windows updates failing? Are you having any other issues?

-CKing

I ran chkdsk a few days ago and didn't notice any problems reported in phases 1 - 4. I didn't stick around until the last phase was complete.
Unfortunately, there are now 5 Windows Updates that fail each time they are installed (either manually or automatically); the 3 same ones I mentioned before in addition to two more:

1)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 for Windows 7 for x64 (KB3102433)

Hello Klepton

Let's see what is causing the issue using SURT:

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Hello Klepton

So, SURT did find some corruption. Most of it was repaired, but there is some still left. This fix should fix most of it

[COLOR=9000]SFCFix Fix[/COLOR]
This fix is very specific for Klepton's computer. Trying this fix on your own computer might damage your computer. If you are after assistance, create a new thread, and you will be assisted shortly.
Download SFCFix (by niemiro) and move the executable on your Desktop. If you have kept SFCFix from previous fixes, use that instead.
Download the attached View attachment SFCFix.zip and move the archive to your Desktop
Note: Make sure that the file is named SFCFix.zip, do not rename it.
Save any work you have open, and close every programs
Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it
mMabJGT.gif
SFCFix will launch, let it complete
Once done, a file will appear on your Desktop, called SFCFix.txt
Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply

Hello Klepton

Thanks for the CheckSUR log

I ran SURT again, but do I have to keep re-installing the Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) update if it is already installed from the previous SURT run?

Anyhow, I selected yes when it prompted me to install it again and attached is the log:

See, the SURT installer doesn't "install" the way normal updates do. Instead, it extracts CheckSUR in a temporary directory, runs CheckSUR to create the log, and deletes it afterwards.

Anyways, we will run a new SFC scan, because we repaired a manifest file in the previous SFCFix Script. SFC relies on manifest files to see if a system file is corrupt or not, and one of the manifest files were corrupted, so Windows Update couldn't even copy those files one of the updates!

Although SURT found some of those files, but it is not very good at it, and can only find some of it
Code:
(f) CSI Payload File Missing 0x00000000 EncDec.dll amd64_microsoft-windows-tvencdec_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17528_none_3e974d1ba50aac60
(f) CSI Payload File Missing 0x00000000 mfplat.dll amd64_microsoft-windows-mfplat_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.23290_none_54ff8537837733ff
(f) CSI Payload File Missing 0x00000000 msmpeg2adec-ppdlic.xrm-ms x86_microsoft-windows-msmpeg2adec_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.23290_none_9410a4282efc2ea7
(f) CSI Payload File Missing 0x00000000 qdvd.dll x86_microsoft-windows-directshow-dvdsupport_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.23290_none_56587bd84b7d0503

There are more, and SFC will give us the full list now

SFC Scan

Hello Klepton

We will be doing another fix

[COLOR=9000]SFCFix Fix[/COLOR]
This fix is very specific for Klepton's computer. Trying this fix on your own computer might damage your computer. If you are after assistance, create a new thread, and you will be assisted shortly.

Download SFCFix (by niemiro) and move the executable on your Desktop
Download the attached View attachment SFCFix.zip and move the archive to your Desktop
Note: Make sure that the file is named SFCFix.zip, do not rename it.
Save any work you have open, and close every programs
Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it
mMabJGT.gif
SFCFix will launch, let it complete
Once done, a file will appear on your Desktop, called SFCFix.txt
Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply

Now, Run SURT again (using the msu installer again) and post the CheckSUR log. SFC scan was clean, and that means we work with SURT until it is also clean

So far, are any of the 5 failing updates installing?

3 out of the 5 updates have successfully installed automatically. Two still fail:
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 for Windows 7 for x64 (KB3102433)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 on Windows 7, Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB3135996)

Hello Klepton

Those two updates are related to .NET framework, so we need a few logs

Start installing one of those two updates, and when the update fails, follow the instructions below:

[COLOR=9000]Using the .NET Collect Utility[/COLOR]

  1. Download collect.exe and save to your desktop.
  2. Go ahead and run the tool
  3. The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the needed logs to %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.
  4. Please zip/attach to this post or if too large, send using a service such as SendSpace.
