[SOLVED] SFC Scan Found Corrupted Files Windows 10

Now that you are using a new profile I would like you to try the following again.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Keep the default Upgrade this PC option and click Next.
4. Let this process complete the upgrade to the newest build and let me know when complete.

The media creation tool failed too. The media tool process went like this:

  • First it was "downloading update".
  • Then "creating media tool"
  • Then "checking your PC"
  • Then "checking for updates"
  • And lastly, "making sure you're ready to install"

And right when it got to the last part I got the "Modern setup has stopped working" error again. Seems like something else needs to be fixed before I can update my Windows. But I have no idea what it could be.

Is your processor an i3 or i5?

An easy way to find out if you don't know is to hold down the Windows button on your keyboard and click the Pause button. If your Pause key is shared with another key then you may have to hold down the Windows key along with the Fn key and press pause.

My processor is an i5. Intel i5-5200U CPU 2.20 GHz. 8GB ram. x64-based processor

Great. Try the following again.

I ran disk clean up and cleaned up the Windows Setup temporary files and Previous Windows Installations. I then tired to install it with the media tool and the it gave me an error that said that setup has failed and to try restarting the computer and running setup again. I restarted the computer and ran setup again via the media tool and the got the same modern setup has stopped working error.

I ran it through a USB and I got the Modern Setup error when it's checking for updates. By the way, Windows 10 is automatically looking for updates as well. Right now it's looking for this one:

Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586

And it's been stuck at 14% downloading this update for about an hour. I'm attaching my update history, which shows the KB number.

Can you disconnect your computer from the internet and try installing from the USB drive. See if it makes any difference.

Without me being connected to the internet, the Modern Setup Error comes up a lot faster. But I've noticed that today for the first time a lot minor updates have been successfully installed (see attached jpeg). Before today the update history was all fails. I will let it update for a while by itslef to see if eventually the main one (Windows 10, version 1511) updates by itself too. Thanks for all your help. You got the minor updates to work any maybe the mayor one will work after these are installed.

Very doubtful as it's just a shortcut but we'll fix anyway.
