Odd. At first CHKDSK detects problems, the latest scan reports no further action is needed.
Do you notice any remaining issues with this machine ?

I would like , with your help, to have a look at the startup time, some parameters, etc..
And more: Windows defender is disabled but every now and then it keeps appearing a notice, where it's asking me to analize the pc.
Msconfig suddenly shows that at Sartup I have no items, which is incredible tho, because until a few days ago I had some processes showing up.
It's all very confusing, and I feel that the machine is not very well balanced. Could you please help me?

The service related to Windows Defender is still active and running. Can we disable it as for now Avast is the active AV ?

I had to uninstall Avast free AV because, please see message #38 and 39, it was conflicting with mbam, and the latter wouldn't proceed.
So, at the moment I'm still clean from Avast.
Hopefully 🤞🏻after my last message I've managed to exclude completely windows defender from sending that weird notice.

Before all the query/ topic started I was fine and running Avast free AV, using Microsoft firewall, instead of Avast firewall, with disabled Ms Defender.
The pc system has been running so smooth and reasonably fast for very long time, as much that I had mostly forgotten my untouched settings, until I have plugged in that awful Hp printer that changed most of my settings, acting like a non official virus, bringing up issues all at once and unbalancing boot time, as long as delaying windows startup.

Yes, we can disable and tweak/ tune up anything you may suggest, even though some script.

Today, when I became aware that no services were showing as running under Startup (through msconfig), I kind of felt defeated.

So, let's start again with diagnostics and suggestions.
I understand that the machine is oldish, and I also wish to elevate it to windows 10, but I fear that lag times will become unbearable. As almost every machine that's been updated to w10. 😰

Malwarebytes is not only an antimalware product, it is a antivirus product also which may conflict with Avast antivirus.
Uninstall CCleaner for now. It is not essential. You may re-install it later if needed.

  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Attach the logfile Fixlog.txt to your next reply.

Step 2:

CrystalDiskInfo.zip and save it on your desktop.
Extract the .zip file into a new folder.
In this new folder, run the tool DiskInfo.
When the tool is finished, it will show some information about the hard disc.

Yes, I would much prefer a portable version of CCleaner. The more they update it to a new version, the more the software becomes invasive and annoying. Same for Mbam

Thanks a lot for the prompt ccleaner dwnload link!
Successfully uninstalled the other one with geek uninstaller, and surprisingly the operation lasted for almost 2 minutes.

Are you able to run/open the program C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe ?

yes, just opened. It appears the windows defender interface (not active).
I've closed it, and immediately tried to open Ms edge without success.
After a long while 3 ms edge windows opened together.
Pressing ctrl, alt, del and found Windows Defender being executed under the Services menu.
