Sound crackling / pops / Clicks while playing games and listening to music

Okay ill try my best to explain everything since english is not my first language.

Yes the Problem started a few months back when i moved to my new apartment i changed nothing on my setup other then my Internet service provider.
I have a simular setup next to mine (my girlfriends PC) which has no audio issue.
normally i get more frequent pops and also without moving the cursor but thinking about it i feel like the pops and crackles come from fast changes in frequency.
That would explain why it crackles after pausing the video.
i have a lot of different USB periphery in use but i also tried to disconnect everything and i still get the crackles.
im trying to find a download link for MXA right now i will keep you updated

edit: found the download its included in the ADK now
Edit2: i have new second screen but im pretty sure that i had the crackles before that im gonna try if the crackles come when only using 1 screen

I believe this is the link you'll want to use for the version of Windows 10 you're running. Deselect everything except Media eXperience Analyzer to install the tool. After installation, you'll want to import the profile with the filename multimedia_wprp.wprp in Windows Performance Recorder to get the profile option available in the WPR UI. On my computer it appears in C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Media eXperience Analyzer

The only profile that should be enabled in WPR when getting an MXA trace is the one shown in the attached screenshot. You have to import the profile I mentioned in my last reply using the Add profile... button at the bottom left of the WPR UI.

i tried a second trace with audioglitches enabled since i couldnt see it in the MXA but i guess because no audioglitches where detected

To be clear about what I'm saying about the screenshot, Audio glitches should not be selected.

That being said, it's not uncommon for audio glitches to not show up in a trace, unfortunately. Can you make a trace available using the MXA profile, anyway?

understood.
yes the first trace is with only the MXA profile enabled. would you like another one ? maybe i can try to mark some seconds where i can clearly hear crackling.

Yes, please try to get a trace with as many audio problems as possible in 30 seconds or so.

I had weird audio glitches in the recent past that were caused by having Memory Integrity enabled. If you type Core Isolation in Start and open the dialog does Memory Integrity appear as an option? If so, is it enabled? Mine is set like the attached screenshot.

Thank you. I'll have a look but it's been a while since using MXA so I'm going to need to do some review.

I think what is happening is that DPC/ISR storms are occurring intermittently which last for longer than 5 ms. So, it's not that any single ISR or DPC is running long enough to cause a problem but instead that a batch of them are happening sequentially and since ISRs and DPCs take priority over user code the audiodg.exe doesn't get any CPU time to output audio at its scheduled interval.

I'm not sure why that's a problem now versus before but I'm still looking. In the meantime, can you check the date of the Realtek audio driver in Device Manager under the Sound, video and game controllers node and let me know what it is?

edit: I think it's a driver issue and I'd recommend installing the Intel Driver and Support Assistant and using it to check for updates for your Intel components. Apply all the updates it offers (if any) and please let me know if it did have newer versions and for what.

Also, I think there might be a newer driver available for the onboard Realtek audio. This is a cab from the Microsoft Update Catalog which has what I think are newer drivers. They are the drivers I'm using on my system which has Realtek onboard audio but I've not been able to figure out exactly what model Realtek component your motherboard uses.

No worries. I enjoy this stuff for some reason. :)

I'm wondering if a newer audio driver could help. Did you install the Realtek audio driver from the motherboard product support site or is it the driver Windows Update installed?
