Sound crackling / pops / Clicks while playing games and listening to music

They both seem to be the same version number but sometimes the motherboard manufacturer adds stuff beyond the generic. I'd like to try and update to the version I linked in my last reply from yesterday. It's a cab file with an odd name but if you open the cab with File Explorer it will show a bunch of realtek inf files and drivers. You'd wan't to copy those files to a folder, for example: D:\Realtek

Then update the Realtek sound device under the Sound, video and game controllers node in Device Manager by right-clicking, selecting Update driver, Browse my computer for drivers, and select the D:\Realtek folder (or whichever folder you actually created.)

Does that find and install a new driver?

okay i just downloaded the drivers from the ASUS Website and installed them (Deinstalled old one first and installed the one from the website)
I will try now and after that i will try it with your files :)

If you decide to try the drivers I linked, I'd recommend uninstalling the drivers from the motherboard site in the Apps & Features list and rebooting first. I'm not sure the driver from the Windows Update Catalog will get along with whatever Asus may have added.

okay so i have uninstalled my drivers though apps and features but now i cant (obviously) see the realtek drivers in my device manager :) how do i install your cab now ?

Did you reboot? It might take a minute but plug and play should install the drivers from Windows Update... or manually check Windows Update?

okay weird things are happening...
my PC updated after the restart but did not install the realtek audio drivers but i now use the following output device.
crackling and popping still appears

Right-click the device that starts with High Definition Audio and try the Update driver instructions to point to the D:\Realtek folder or your equivalent. Does that work?

That could be an indication the drivers I linked don't work with the Realtek components on your motherboard. It's hard to say where things are at this point so I'd suggest downloading DDU and using it in safe mode to delete the Realtek drivers, reboot, and then run Windows Update manually.

okay i started in safe mode i deleted the Realtek drivers, how exactly should i run the windowsupdate manually ?

After you've rebooted into normal mode, Start -> Settings -> Windows Update -> Check for updates should work.

okay so far so good i installed 2 windows updates and now i cant find any new updates ... realtek drivers didnt get reinstalled with the updates though

Edit: still getting cracks and pops

Try installing the Realtek drivers from the motherboard product support site again, if you haven't already done so. It should work and may have some additional tweaks/additions from Asus.

reinstalled from the website still pops :D at this point i consider throwing my pc out of the window :D

That looks right to me.

So, I'm trying to figure out what might have changed to make it a problem now. Please have a look in Task Manager under the Processes tab and let me know how much CPU System interrupts is using while the computer is idle and then while triggering the audio glitches.

while crackles and pops are present its at about 0.3% idle its 0.1% its the highlighted process

High System interrupts can indicate hardware problems but that looks normal.

Did you happen to update your motherboard BIOS shortly before the audio glitches started?

no only after i started to get them i thoght about what i could possibly have changed but nothing comes to mind.
