UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION BSOD in dell g3 3590 when resuming from hibernation

to resolve the overheating problem, they have replaced the motherboard (again) with a refurbished one (they are not giving a new one). and they say that they wont replace the battery (which lasts only around 1.5 hours when browsing using wifi (not gaming or heavy usage)) that has deteriorated in its charge capacity due to the overheating issue.

coming to the BSOD issue, the service center is saying that reinstalling windows would solve all problems, and there is no hardware problem. i dont know why they are saying so, but i have more trust in your expertise than that service engineer. i feel helpless :( how am i to proceed?

Reinstalling Windows MAY help your situation.

I would go ahead and do so, then we can see of the BSODs continue.

the dell escalation team had promised me that all the problems would be resolved by the service center people. but when i went to collect the laptop, to my disappointment, i found that they had only replaced the motherboard and reinstalled windows (and not even the drivers); and these have solved none of my problems including overheating and BSODs. infact the service engineer had hidden the fact that there were 4 BSODs on 29-7-2020 and 1 BSOD on 19-8-2020 (when i was sitting right at the service center waiting to collect my laptop). and they did not even bother to re-install the dell-software that came pre-installed with my laptop (and which are having some problems). when i asked about these, they coolly say that they are not responsible for these, as you can read at Re: frustrated with dell-india-escalations-team. need DELL-USA support

and every time i have to go to the i have to travel 25km from my home in a rented car only to go to the service center, for nothing!

i have attached the new 4 BSOD dumps for your perusal. there is no dump created, pertaining to 19-8-2020. please tell me which hardware is the culprit, so that i can ask dell to replace it before my warranty ends on 19-nov-2020. (dell has been trying to hide it.) many thanks in advance.

The computer is under warranty and the logs report many problems.
For warranty replacement Dell is likely looking for component failure.
While a component may not have yet failed it has error reports that you would not want on a new computer.

Some of these were seen in the logs of the opening post and current logs (predating the motherboard replacement and possibly other steps performed in the service center)

WHEA corrected hardware errors
Paging errors
Controller errors
Misbehaving Intel rapid storage technology driver
Failed fast startup
Drive file system corruption F:

While we can fix some of the above please escalate at Dell and ask them to fix the above problems or authorize RMA.

thanks a ton for perusing the dump-files sir. it is a shame on dell that even today, they are repeating that there is no hardware problem in the laptop. i dont know if they are incompetent or actually hiding the causes of the problems. as you have advised, i will demand a new (not refurbished) laptop as replacement or refund of the money.

dell says that though these problems happened after the replacement of motherboard, they can happen if some driver updates were pending when the BSODs occurred. could this be true?

now i have installed all the drivers using dell-supportassist (except supportassist os recovery tools which keeps saying that is not installed even though i had installed it). is it ok if i do a new run of the your app and upload the file again?

meanwhile i will run the tests you have mentioned in the PM and revert back.
thanks in advance.

when i was browsing now, suddenly the browser froze and all pages displayed the "aw...snap" message. so i had to force-close the browser. and no file could be opened (file system error). please see this screenshot file system error.png so i tried to restart my laptop but the screen was stuck at "Restarting". so i had to press and hold the power button to shut it down. when i turned it on again, it was not able to boot into windows and showed the recovery options screen. i selected 'shutdown' and turned on the machine again. it booted ok. but i want to know what happened. how can i collect the eventviewer logs so that you can look into it and tell me which hardware is the cause. can i run your application again for this purpose?

i am yet to run the tests suggested by @zbook, because i was quite held up with some work, sorry about that.

1) Move the page file back to the Windows drive: D: > C:

2) In the left lower corner search type: system or system control > open system control panel > on the left pane click advanced system settings

a) > on the advanced tab under startup and recovery > click settings > post an image of the startup and recovery window into the thread

b) > on the advanced tab under performance > click on settings > on the performance options window > click on the advanced tab > under virtual memory > click on change > post an image of the virtual memory window into the thread

3) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
chkdsk /r /v
This may take hours to run so plan to run overnight.
Run on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /r /v C: or chkdsk /r /v D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.

C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /r /v
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Type: Y
reboot

4) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer.
Copy and paste into notepad > save to desktop > post into the thread using a one drive, drop box, or google drive share link:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10

5) Check for new drivers using the Intel driver and support assistant:
Download Intel® Driver & Support Assistant

6) Turn off Windows fast startup:
Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

7) The logs displayed corruption F: on Date: 2020-08-04T11:30:23.283
If this drive is occssionally used consider attaching the drive and running chkdsk /r /v

8) For any BSOD run the Sysnative log collector > upload results into the thread

9) We have no fix for the WHEA corrected hardware errors.
(Dell would replace any component that failed Dell diagnostics while under warranty)
(How they manage WHEA corrected hardware errors is unknown. They may want you to ignore them or if your lucky they could be encouraged to extend the warranty.)

1. i guess the service engineer moved the page file to D. both C and D are partitions on the 512 GB SSD. C contains the OS. i did not know how to do that, but, i searched online and it was already set to "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives", but the pagefile.sys was in D and not C. i set it back to C.

5. INTEL DSA displays a warning on their website:
"Intel® Graphics - Windows® 10 DCH Drivers
Description:
This download installs the Intel® Graphics Driver for 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th generation, Apollo Lake, Gemini Lake, Amber Lake, Whiskey Lake, Comet Lake, and Lakefield. Version: 27.20.100.8587 Release date: August 18, 2020 Size: 335.51 MB
Installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite any customized driver from your Computer Manufacturer (OEM). OEM drivers are handpicked, customized, and validated to resolve platform-specific issues, enable features and enhancements, and improve system stability. Intel’s generic graphics drivers are intended for testing, and we recommend using drivers from Dell. Report any issues found with this driver to Intel.
I have read and understand this warning, and wish to proceed."

no offence to anyone in this forum or you sir, @zbook, but is it not safer to stick to the OEM (dell) drivers only? in my previous HP laptop which had switchable graphics by intel and AMD, i had installed the windows-10 graphics drivers from intel and AMD because HP stopped supporting windows-10 on my hp machine and that resulted in BOTH the display adapters to stop functioning irreversibly till now. i am scared that the same thing can happen to this machine, so is it ok to skip the drivers suggested by INTEL DSA? no offence to your expertise, though.

6. i have turned off fast startup.

7. drive F: on Date: 2020-08-04T11:30:23.283
was used by the service engineer at the service center on that date. it does not belong to me, hence no problem.

8. please enlighten me about what caused the file-system-errors and caused the machine to stop responding.

9. can i know which hardware is causing the WHEA corrected hardware errors? accordingly i will ask dell to replace it if they would.

10. i want to post in this forum about my other problems in appropriate thread (hardware). i will update this post with those threads if that can help in better analyzing my machine's problems.

many thanks in advance :)

1) For Virtual Memory the highlight was on D: and displayed no paging file.
Please highlight C: and post a new image.

2) For Start up and recovery system failure:
a) uncheck automatically restart
b) reboot

3) For viewing chkdsk results make sure that you display or post a share link for the full report

4) The Intel driver and support assistant checks all Intel drivers.
If it only found GPU drivers you can use the HP drivers with Windows updates

5) Drive file system error causes are multifactorial.
They can occur when there are frequent power offs, drive problems, etc.
Most often the cause remains unknown.

6) Uncorrected hardware errors such as WHEA 124 cause BSOD.
in comparison, corrected hardware errors appear in log files.
It is unknown over time whether corrected hardware errors do or don't turn into uncorrected hardware errors.
In the forums we don't troubleshoot corrected hardware errors.
For brand new computer it's best not to have them.

7) With the new thread I'll sign off this thread as any remaining problems from this thread can be included in the new thread

8) Consider uploading a new Sysnative log collector share link in your new thread
