Using the .NET Collect Utility


  1. Download collect.exe and save to your desktop.
  2. Go ahead and run the tool
  3. The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the needed logs to %TEMP%\vslogs.cab.
  4. Please zip/attach to this post or if too large, send using a service such as SendSpace.

Do you have Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile under Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program?

Do not do anything yet, just tell me if it is present.

and what shall i do after removing .net framework ???
i cannot install version 4.7 afterwards, cause the offline installer prompts for file in setup cache which don't exist.
if i run windows update instead, i get 5 updates fail .

i have the impression, that the cleanup toll does not clean recent installations completely,
or why does the installer afterwards prompt for files of recent installations?

is there no way to get completely rid of this .net framework ???
i do not need this, and also i think i run no applications, which need this.

this security rollup update for the framework, which appears monthly causes only problems every time.

if there is a way to clean this properly from my computer i would be very happy.

we have this problem on 4 computers, exactly the same problem!

Framework is a necessary part of Windows and in recent versions it has become an integral part of Windows.

Please do the following:

Download the offline setup for Net Framework 4.6.1. If any errors come up, screenshot them for me and attach CBS.log. Download Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 (Offline Installer) for Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 from Official Microsoft Download Center

this means:
net framework 4.61 was not installed,
reason heavy failure during installation

i think this is getting worse.

i already had properly installed 4.7 without problems before posting this error here.
it was only the monthly security rollup of november failing ...

so why cleanup this properly installed 4.7 and go back to other versions before,
which perhaps not install because of rests of 4.7 installations.

unfortunately this ms error messages are not really helpful for sorting out anything.

but go ahead, may be we find the reason.

there must be a reason, which causes the troubles every month when the .net framework rollup update comes.

Hi,

the current state is:

I made a system rollback with norton ghost to the system 2 weeks ago.
from that system i updated all windows updates exept the trouble-update KB4049016.

from this current system is the collect-file attached.

remember i have problems with this kind of ".net framework monthly security rollup update"
every month since a while on all of our 4 computers windows 7 pro 64bit systems.

this is the only problem while updating windows.

just to input another thought:

some posts ago you proposed to install the update manually.
you gave me the link:

i tried to install the concerning files (64bit) and got the message, that the update is already installed.

could it be, that i always get the error message, when updating online "KB4049016",
cause it is already installed?

this makes sense to me.

how to verify, why offline installs send this "already installed" message to me.
