[SOLVED] Win 7 x64 KB4343899 & KB4343900 Failing with Error 80070057

I have some software that isn't compatible with Windows 8 or 10, unfortunately. I appreciate your efforts. Would it help for me to delete the SoftwareDistribution folder?
 
Retrieve Components Hive
 1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service and just provide the link here.

Please navigate to :HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect\Microsoft-Windows-FailoverCluster-Core-WOW64-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~zh-HK~0.0.0.0 and delete LastProgressState value.

After that, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\ComponentDetect\amd64_microsoft-windows-csrsrv_31bf3856ad364e35_0.0.0.0_none_497fc836a5e54f35 and delete all the values listed here e.g. Package_137_for_KB3192403~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2

Let me know if something is unclear.
 
I made sure to run regedit as administrator, but when I try to delete the LastProgressState value I get "Unable to delete all specified values"

Tried to rename it, but get a similar error.

Edit: Same errors trying to delete the package values.
 
Manually Delete Registry Key
1. Click your Start button and type regedit in the search box.
2. Right-click on regedit.exe that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator. Answer Yes to the UAC prompt.
3. The registry editor will open which is a window divided vertically into two panes. Make sure you scroll all the way to the top of the screen and click any black downward pointing arrows so that they turn white and all the keys are collapsed.
4. Now click the arrow next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and it will expand all the subkeys beneath it.
5. Scroll down and find the subkey named SOFTWARE and expand that. Continue expanding the following ones Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect
6. Beneath PackageDetect you should see a key named Microsoft-Windows-FailoverCluster-Core-WOW64-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~zh-HK~0.0.0.0 (You will likely need to scroll down but you will eventually get to it)
7. Right-click on the key named Microsoft-Windows-FailoverCluster-Core-WOW64-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~zh-HK~0.0.0.0 and select Permissions...
8. On the Permissions dialog click the Advanced button.
9. Click the Permissions tab on the Advanced Security Settings dialog.
10. Click the Change button
11. Type <your username> in the text box and click OK.
12. Check the box "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".
13. Click the Permissions tab again and uncheck "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent".
14. If prompted with a Windows Security warning with Add and Remove buttons, click Add.
15. Click OK to close the Advanced Security Settings dialog.
16. Make sure the <Your Username> group is selected in the Permissions dialog and ensure that the checkbox for Full Control under the Allow column is checked. Click OK.
17. Now, right click on the LastProgressState value and select Delete. Answer Yes to the confirm dialog.

Repeat the same for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\ComponentDetect\amd64_microsoft-windows-csrsrv_31bf3856ad364e35_0.0.0.0_none_497fc836a5e54f35

FRST Registry Search
 1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
3. Select the Programs group.
4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog. Wait until this dialog populates with information. If this does not happen for some reason, please continue with the steps anyway.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps.
5. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
6. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
7. Copy and paste amd64_microsoft-windows-csrsrv_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.22921_none_2828f75fd525acd6 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
8. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.
9. You may close any remaining open windows now.
