[SOLVED] Win 8.1 update errors

Good :) Alright, try to install your Windows Updates again. If they fail, upload the two files below for me to rewiew.

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

Sorry but updates failed so here's the files you requested.

CBS.log - Google Drive

WindowsUpdate.log - Google Drive

Can I request a little priority on this issue as I'm going away this weekend for 10 days so won't be able to access my pc during that time.
Thanks for the consideration.

Sadly I have a full time job and I also go to the gym and/or play volleyball on certain evenings, which means I can get home late. I always try to reply to threads as fast as I can (in the last 3 days I was busy with a project so I didn't have time). I'll try to reply as fast as I can, but most of the time I don't have the resources necessary at work to create fixes (since I don't have access to my VMs). Even if you go away for 10 days, I'll still be there when you comeback :)

Follow the instructions in the link below.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/948252

Basically, click on the "Download" button and run the Fix-it that will be downloaded. Once done, restart the computer (if it hasn't restarted after running the Fix-it) and try to install the updates again. If it fails, upload a new set of CBS.log and WindowsUpdate.log for me.

That site now says this:

[h=4]End of support notification for Fix it[/h]If you are redirected to this article when you click the Download button of a “Fix it” solution in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article, this means that the solution has been retired and is no longer supported. We recommend that you use one of the following diagnostics to resolve your software issues.

When I tried the update fix it I got an error message:

error code for fix it - tomsr's library

Please advise.

Alright in that case follow the instructions under "Let me fix it myself". Make sure to enter all the commands correctly.

OK did that and tried update but it just sits there checking for updates. Has done that for over 3 hrs now. Please advise.

In your Windows Update control panel, change the Windows Update settings for "Never check for updates", then restart your computer and try to install the update.

Yes, if you upgrade to Windows 10, a whole new system is installed, so it'll solve all your current Windows Update issues.

Also, it can take some time for Windows to download the update. Which KB are you trying to install?

I was trying to install a small one - only 469 KB in size.

Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3182203)

Download size: 469 KB
