Please wait, since this may take a while...

Total identified Windows installations: 1
[1] C:\Windows
Add installation to boot list? Yes(Y)/No(N)/All(A):

9. You should see "The operations completed successfully."
10. Now you can type exit and then click the continue button to boot back into Windows.

Please let me know if you have any questions while doing this. It's important that everything is typed exactly with spaces, slashes, etc.

Excellent. Let's try the Windows 10 update again. Let me know if any error messages come up.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Keep the default Upgrade this PC option and click Next.
4. Let this process complete the upgrade to the newest build and let me know when complete.

After a few minutes, or hours, it failed again.

It goes past both license agreements, goes to the fullscreen and crashes when it says it's preparing to restart the computer. It only shows a window saying there was an error installing it.

Damn you windows :banghead:

Laptop decided to install updates when I shift + rebooted...waiting for it.

Ok I ran the checkdisk and it finished at stage 4 saying:

Windows changed invalid clusters in the file 33 named \$Extend\$RmMetadata\$TxFLog\$TXFLO~1.
Windows changed invalid clusters in the file 34 named \$Extend\$RmMetadata\$TxFLog\$TXFLO~2.

240 files processed. File Data verification completed

Non-specified error (766f6c756d652e63 461).

Now it ran the Stage 5 saying:

Adding 2 clusters to the defective clusters file.
Fixing bitmap errors in the volume.

Windows fixed the file system.
No further action is required.

Good. In the command prompt, type the following hitting enter after each line.
diskpart
list disk

Let me know how many disks are listed. I assume only one named Disk 0 that is online.

If that is correct, then type
select disk 0
list partition

Let me know how many partitions, types and sizes.

Thanks. I needed that info in case the Windows 10 install fails again. Go ahead and reboot back into Windows and try the Windows 10 update again.

If it fails, please zip up and attach the following log.
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log

It went through the whole process and now I believe it is running the latest Windows version.

When I do Windows Key + I, go to updates and check for new updates, it found the KB4015438 and KB4013418 and some flash player updates, I'll let you know if that screws up anything.
