In AutoRuns, under "Logon" tab, iTunes helper is unchecked. Check the box and see what happens. I don't know what the entry does - I don't have iTunes.

It is a background process that monitors for an apple device connection, if a connection is present iTunes will launch.
If there's no device it can be disabled.

Thanks again for all the help things seem to be pretty much back to normal now! You guys really and truly are great on this forum and the willingness too help strangers with issues with varying degrees of computer knowledge, is pretty cool and I personally have learned alot from you in the past week or so!

Therefore, did you solve this problem with SFC?
I.e., was this caused by some corrupted windows files?
Or did you solve it after java uninstall?
Or what?

I think it was a combo of things, but the registry issues that were fixed and then the corrupted windows files completed the fix. again appreciate everyone's help very much on this!
