[SOLVED] [Windows 10 21H1] Can't upgrade, DISM Error 193, sfc finds nothing

Hi,

Please run the System File Checker again.

Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter.

sfc /scannow
Take a screenshot of the commandprompt window and paste it into your next reply.

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Upload the file CBS.ZIP as attachement in your nex reply.

    Powershell Compress-Archive -Path "$env:windir\System32\config\COMPONENTS" -DestinationPath "$env:UserProfile\Desktop\Components.zip"
  • This will create a file named Components.zip on your desktop.

I don't have a full systemimage but i have a backup of my important datas.
Do you mean I have no other choice but doing a new clean install of Windows ?

  • Copy and paste the following (code) into the Search box and click the Search Files button.

  • When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'Search.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also.
  • Post the logfile Search.txt as attachment in your next reply.

  • Please copy this file to your desktop.

We can try to use this components HIVE as a replacement, to do this, perform the following instructions.

Step 1
WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  • Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select rename. Rename it to COMPONENTS.old.
    Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  • Now navigate to C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\NewOS\Windows\System32\config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Copy this file and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config and restart the system.


Step 2
  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands one for one into it, press enter after each.
Code:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Wait for this to finish before you continue

  • When finished, take a screenshot of the commandprompt window and paste it into your next reply.
