Add Missing Package
1. Click the Start button and type cmd in the search box.
2. Right-click on the cmd that comes up and select Run as administrator.
3. Once you are at the command prompt, copy/paste the following line and press enter.
pnputil -a C:\windows\WinSxS\amd64_usbport.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.23933_none_1c5b39ad335c14a3\usbport.inf

4. You will likely receive a prompt that the publisher of the driver cannot be verified. Please install the driver anyway as this message is normal.

Great, try to install the April update again and report the result.

Peter - upon further reflection, I am going to retry installing the last mandatory update which has caused problems according to several online posts. When it fails, what files would you like me to send you for review?

We are so close. Yet, I fear that if I do not clear this failure up, the next update also will not install.

Peter - you have been amazing. I just want to know if you ever have had this many issues in getting updates to install properly. I try to maintain a clean machine, but obviously not.

I think this one goes on top of the list.

Unfortunately it was all for naught as the motherboard failed and I have slowly been migrating to a new computer. Thank you again for your extraordinary patience.

Your welcome. Thank you for your feedback. A hardware problem is always annoying, especially regarding to the motherboard. I had that ones myself and thankfully found a new one on Ebay.
I will mark this thread as solved.

Take care.
