[SOLVED] windows 7 sp1 error (data error) 0x80070017

Thank you very much for uploading that file.

Your CRC errors lie in a couple of .mum, .cat, files, etc.

Let's dig out the SURT to help fix them.

Please download and install the System Update Readiness Tool from here: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?

Please save the download somewhere convenient you can later find it as we may well need it again later. Save you a second download :)

Also please be aware that the tool can take up to an hour (very occasionally even longer) to complete. Please be patient.

Once it has completed, please upload C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Thank you!

Richard

While you're at it, could you please post an MGADiag report - it may provide a different set of data....

we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

this is everything i got from the MGADiag tool and i am posting the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log on here as wellView attachment CheckSUR.persist.zip

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands

SC QC CRYPTSVC
SC QUERYEX CRYPTSVC

post the results.

I'll let Richard deal with the remaining CheckSUR report error - but I think that there is a problem outside that.

So the basic problem with the MGADiag is that the CryptSVC is not running - this will also break Windows Updates and a number of other things.

let's get rid of the remaining CheckSUR error before rechecking and attempting to fix the service problem.

I'll post a fix in a few minutes (since Richard seems to be otherwise engaged)

I've uploaded a file - booaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder booaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folder inside it (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Please also run a new SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log file - just to check that there's nothing new found.

i got it now, i was in the wrong place, kinda more focused on the pain in my shoulder, from moving alot of stuff yesterday than anything else, but i have it now, running the checksur tool again and then going to run the sfc/scannow again after.
