[SOLVED] windows 7 sp1 error (data error) 0x80070017

I have no real idea why one should work and the others fail :(

I'll have to sleep on it and see if I can come up with some sort of test procedure - and check that I sourced those files from the proper place!

I've applied the set of files I uploaded to my VM, and run SFC - and it accepts the files as OK.
The problem appears to be at your end somewhere - possibly in the form of malware.
The apparent filesize of all the files appears to be correct, but the hash that Windows uses for checking the file has changed
One oddity is the file date according to the DIR commands - I'm not sure how that affects the hash, or why it's changed on your system, but not on mine.

Please run an offline malware scanner such as Windows Defender Offline - What is Windows Defender Offline? and see what it has to say.
Also run TDSSKiller and see if that finds anything. http://support.kaspersky.com/5350

Hi, bookie.

If you run TDSSKiller, please do not change any of the default settings as that could result in an unbootable machine if certain files are selected when curing if a rootkit is present. Should anything be found, it would be best if you went to our Security Arena forum and posted the logs requested in the Malware Removal Posting Instructions topic.

I am defraging the laptop at the moment it is laggy right now so I will get to this as soon as possible thank you both.

i just got a malware program and ran it today, so i dont know if it helped or not, i am going to run the tdsskiller, working on that now, the windows defender i can not get i dont have black cds nor do my usb ports work at the moment.

the tdsskiller took 7:57 to finish and did not find any threats, should i run everything again, and post the stuff up here again?

Hmm - you really do need to run an offline scanner.
Why don't your USB ports work??

What program did you run and did it find anything? The offer is still open to check the logs in the Security Forum here. Either Will or I would be happy to.

Advanced Systemcare Ultimate it is paid for, it also has a virus scan, it found 143 malware, and cleaned them, well can we also check for virus?

Advanced System Care is a pretty usless collection of reverse-engineered out-of-date and dangerous software.
Ditch it and get something that works - without a registry cleaner.

It could be simply that it's active at the time - make sure that an old copy isn't at the destination as well, then try again (perhaps after a reboot)

ty you all for the help, but i have a new laptop now.. u all have been wonderful to work with, and ty u all for everything yall have done to try and help me.. the other laptop completely messed up on me and i still have it but i am going to use it for parts.. thanks again, thanks for your time.

Congratulations on the new laptop, bookie.

Please make sure you check not only Windows Updates to ensure all the security updates since the laptop was manufactured are installed but also and third-party software that was included; i.e., Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Oracle Java (which if you don't need is better uninstalled). Please also remember the advice not to use any registry cleaner programs. You know you can always come here if you have a troublesome program and we'll do our best to help.
