Windows Server 2008 R2 / SBS 2011 Update Failures

Go to Control Panel - Windows Update - Change settings
Provide a screenshot of that window.

Have you disabled the setting for "important updates" ?

I'm not familiar with an "important updates" setting. Taking a look at Group Policy, there's a setting for "Turn on recommended updates via Automatic Updates" that sounds close but I just looked at the prior screen shot and realized it probably corresponds to the "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" checkbox.

Where do I find this important updates setting?

In the group policy editor, navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update.
Select "Configure Automatic Updates" and provide a screenshot of that.

Select "Disabled" and click "OK".
Restart the machine.

Go to Control Panel - Windows Update - Change settings
Provide a screenshot of that window.

Its still grayed out (not the effect I was expecting) but now it says it will "never check for updates"

Edit: Oh there's "Important Updates"!... 🤦‍♂️

In the group policy editor, navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update.
Select "Configure Automatic Updates".
Open the listbox below "Configure automatic updating" and provide a screenshot of that.

Select option 5 "Allow local admin to choose setting".
Click Apply.
Restart the machine.

Go to Control Panel - Windows Update - Change settings
Provide a screenshot of that window again.

3 options under 'Important Updates'. Other two are "Install updates automatically (recommended)" and "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them".

Check Windows Update again but do not install any update yet.
Provide a screenshot of the available important updates first.

Install KB890830 only and report the result.

Update failed.

On the topic of WSUS, I did disable it when this SBS server was first setup.
