[SOLVED] windows server 2019 windows problem installing updates 2023 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) for x64-based Systems (KB5023702) Error

Thanks, do you have a similar 2019 server with the same Language packs and/or patch level? If so could you please provide a copy of the COMPONENTS hive?

Thanks I will take a look at this one, but do you have also a copy from a server without the same issue?

oh ok, the only ones that have no problems are servers that we have a different AMI (amazon machine image) seems like, not sure if you need those too

Okay, I prepared a fix to replace all the missing values, but I would recommend to make a complete backup of this server and take a seperate backup of the registry files first.

Step 1. Download
6437fe135e156-Acelogix-RegBak.png
Acelogix RegBak (Portable) to create a backup of the registry.
  • Extract RegBak.zip and right-click regbak64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Click on the button New backup and choose the location where you want to save the backup.
  • Optional: enter a description for this backup.
  • Now click on the option "Click here to view details".
  • Ensure the option Select hives not loaded by Windows is checked, to be sure the following items are included in the backup.
    64380402c500f-Acelogix-RegBak-Settings.png
  • Click Ok to save these settings and press Start to create the backup.
  • When completed you will see the message: Finished succesfully.

Step 2.
Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
Note: If you have a similar server in your network please run the following command. (Change "ServerName" with the correct name of that server).
Code:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:\\ServerName\C$\Windows\WinSxS\ /LimitAccess

So a SFCFix.txt file was used instead of a ZIP-file...
