[SOLVED] Windows Update - 13906 (For BrianDrab)

That's what I was afraid of. Please do the following so I can get detail info on the system.

Step#1 - Retrieve System Information
1. Download Speccy to your desktop. The setup file will be named spsetup128.exe or something similar.
2. Double-click on this file and install it. Note: Please ensure that you uncheck any foistwarethat may be presented during the install (i.e. Chrome Browser install).
3. When the program opens it will retrieve some information regarding your system.
4. Once it's done, select the File menu and choose Save snapshot and save to your desktop.
5. Right-click on this file that you saved (should be named something like ABHISHEK-PC.speccy) and select Send to..compressed (zipped) folder.
6. The resultant name should be something like ABHISHEK-PC.zip. Please attach this file to your next post.

Also, down by the time of your computer you should have a wireless network icon. It will either look like this or maybe like this . On your keyboard if you hit the Fn + F2 keys it should toggle your wireless connection from being enabled to disabled and vice-versa.

In front of your touchpad you should have some status indicators...one of them which is the wireless indicator. As you hit Fn + F2 on the keyboard do you see the light on this indicator turn on and off?

Makes sense if your network cable is plugged in. Unplug the network cable for a moment and then hold down the Function key on your keyboard (Fn) located at the bottom left of the keyboard. While holding this function key down, hit the F2 key at the top of your keyboard. Pay attention to the indicator lights beneath the touchpad of your laptop as shown below. Each time you hit F2 (while holding the Fn key down) does the light beneath the wireless icon turn on and off?

Yes, it turns on and off when the Fn +F2 keys are engaged

No icon is on the screen by the time clock. I have attached what I see in the Device manager window

Got it. Device Manager was where we needed to go next. Nice job. In Device Manager, right-click on the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 6150 that has the caution icon on it and select Uninstall. Reboot once prompted. Even if you are not prompted to reboot please do.

Next, from your working machine, download the drivers from here and save them to your USB drive and transfer to the good machine.

Extract the zip file and open the contents of the folder. You will see a Drivers folder and an Install folder. Open the drivers folder and double-click on dpinst64.exe and allow to install. Reboot if prompted.

If successful, check in Device Manager to see that it is now showing without a caution icon.

Brian, you are awesome. I have wireless connection and my Windows Security Essentials is updating as I write.
I am attaching a shot of what the drivers look like just now


However, what I notice is missing is AR8151 driver which was there when my problem started. I am attaching another shot showing you the drivers when my problem first started.

1. Now that you have wireless you should be able to download this file directly to your computer.
2. Right-click on the file and extract the info.
3. You should see a PNPINST64.exe file.
4. Try double-clicking on this to install
5. If successful, check out Device Manager to see if all looks well.

4. A folder named tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio will be extracted to the desktop. Once the extraction is complete the folder will open.
5. Inside this folder, there is a folder named Tweaking.com - Windows Repair. Open this folder as well.

6. Double-click on Repair_Windows.exe to open.
7. When the program opens, click the Repairs tab and click the Open Repairs button.
8. A backup of your registry will be made. After a few moments you will have many options from which you can choose.
9. Please click the Unselect All button and then click to enable only the following ones:
