I'm still with you dc. Currently working on a Registry fix with my teacher (need his approval first). Once done, I'll take your COMPONENTS Hive once again and make the modifications myself.

Alright here's how we'll proceed.

Tomorrow, when we are both online, we'll go ahead with the fix. I'll give you instructions prior to uploading your COMPONENTS Hive and once done, you'll upload it. After that, I'll load the Hive on my own system and make the changes. Once done, I'll unload it and upload it again, then give it to my teacher that will review the changes I made. If they are approved, I'll post the download link for you to download the new COMPONENTS Hive and instruct you on how to change it. Alright?

If it helps, my timezone is UTC-5 (Eastern Time for Canada and USA) and it's currently 9:17 PM. I'll be online starting at 8:00 AM tomorrow.

I have a full schedule tomorrow so I won't be available until 9:30pm your time. My schedule is clear all day on Wednesday if that works.

That works for me. My schedule on Wednesday is the same as today (Tuesday) :)

Alright, follow the instructions below please.
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select

    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    • net stop wuauserv

Once done, upload your COMPONENTS Hive for me.

Alright I've restarted twice and it's still giving me the error.

After the first command I ask you to enter in the command prompt, enter this one as well:
Code:
REG UNLOAD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS
Then try to upload the COMPONENTS Hive for me.

Made the changes to your Hive. I've uploaded it for my teacher to review it, and once he approves it, I'll post the download link here, and include instructions on how to make the switch. For now, make sure that your Windows Update service is stopped (if you entered the command, you're good) and don't restart your computer (if you do, stop the service again). It's 3:55 PM here, so I end my shift in 5 minutes. I have to go at a friend's house to grab up something before heading home, so I'll be back online around 5:30-45 PM, 6 o'clock at most.

I didn't forget about you. I've been working with my teacher on your fix since yesterday, and making all the changes necessary as he's reviewing it.

Alright time to replace the Hive :) Follow the instructions below please.

Hey, sorry for the late response, I didn't see this until now.

I've moved over the components file and the Windows Update service seems to be responding.

I'll post again once I'm sure it's updating properly.

Thanks

Let's just run SURT to make sure that there's no corruption left in the Registry :)
