Windows Update error 80070002 (Windows 7)

Alright, if you try to uninstall it again, does it says that the update isn't installed, or does it actually goes through with the uninstall?

Alright uninstall it, restart and try to install the SP1 again.

By the way, did you think about the Repair Install solution?

Yes, I just haven't had a chance to go check the place where they would be, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to.

A Repair Install should take less than an hour. So you could even launch it overnight (or before going to bed) and make it check for the updates then to not lose time.

No you need once, hence why I asked. You can do it using a .iso however, but you have to download it from the Microsoft Software Recovery Center using a retail product key for your Windows 7 edition.

OEM I believe. I just used produkey and have the key. Can you point me to the .iso?

I doubt that some files were damaged in the short time you were out but we'll run SURT just in case.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Alright the replacements were accepted. Try to install the SP1 again and if it fails, upload the two logs for me once more please (WindowsUpdate.log, CBS.log).
