Hi, JayNDT.

1. SFCFixScript.txt

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user. Running it on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
  1. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  2. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  3. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

  5. SFCFix will now process the script.
  6. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  7. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to check.

Hi!

Please try again to apply the update. Let us know about the result.

Sadly, still no joy. Windows Update shows this error:

There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0xe0000003)

Hi.

Please attach:

1. A new CBS file
2. This file: C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

Let's check this:
  • Press Windows icon on your Desktop, together with the letter R.
  • Type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command line and press Enter.
Code:
icacls C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\microsoft_bluetooth_hfp_ag.inf_amd64_d2736f1d9bc815e1\microsoft_bluetooth_hfp_ag.inf
  • Make sure to expand the Command prompt window and take a screenshot of what you got.
  • Please attach the screenshot in your next reply.

Repeat the steps above using this command now instead:

Code:
icacls "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\microsoft_bluetooth_hfp_ag.inf_amd64_d2736f1d9bc815e1\microsoft_bluetooth_hfp_ag.inf" /T /Q /C /RESET

Have in mind that it will take some time.

Hi, JayNDT.

Please restart the computer and repeat the above command. If it fails, sign in with Safe mode and try that again.

To sign in with Safe mode:
  • Press the Windows icon on the keyboard together with the letter I, to get into the Settings.
  • Choose Update and Security.
  • From the menu at the left, choose Recovery.
  • Under the title Advanced startup at the right, choose Restart now.
  • From the window that will appear choose Troubleshoot and then Advanced options.
  • Choose Startup Settings and then Restart.
  • Press number 5, for choosing Safe mode with networking.
  • You will know that you are in Safe mode, if the background is black and Safe mode is written at the four corners of the screen.

Same error as before while in Safe Mode.

I checked the permissions of the file in question.

I've tried changing the permissions manually, but I think I'd need to take ownership of the file first to do so.

Do not change anything yet. Please wait for a new set of instructions.

Choose to run Command Prompt as Administrator.
Run the following command and attach the file (registry hive) created on the Desktop:

Code:
reg save "HKLM\SYSTEM\DriverDatabase" "%userprofile%\Desktop\DriverDB.hiv"

Hi, JayNDT.

1. Run FRST 1

Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. --> IMPORTANT

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

If your antivirus software detects the tool as malicious, it’s safe to allow FRST to run. It is a false-positive detection.

If English is not your primary language, right click on FRST.exe/FRST64.exe and rename to FRSTEnglish.exe/FRST64English.exe
  • Double-click the FRST icon to run the tool. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button and wait for a while.
  • The scanner will produced two logs on your Desktop: FRST.txt and Addition.txt.
  • Please attach the content of these two logs in your next reply.

2. FRST fix

  • Post the log in your next reply.

In your next reply please post:
  1. The 2 logs, FRST and Addition
  2. The fixlog.txt

Hi. Apologies.

Run the following fix instead:

Code:
Start::
REG: reg load HKLM\DRIVERS %systemroot%\system32\config\DRIVERS
REG: reg query HKLM\DRIVERS\DriverDatabase\DriverInfFiles\microsoft_bluetooth_hfp_ag.inf
End::

The instructions are the same.

First one was fine, but the second reg key wasn't found again.

The closest I could find was \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\DRIVERS\DriverDatabase\DriverInfFiles\microsoft_bluetooth_hfp.inf

Of course, I haven't made any changes to it.
