[SOLVED] Windows Update stops installing at 1% during reboot for KB5014699

Now it didn't even try to download the files to begin the update, and immediately went to an error:

There were problems downloading some updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this, try searching the web or contacting support for help. This error code might help: (0x800f0805)

Well, the fix went fine, but it seemingly didn't download the files for the Windows Update, and went to the error.

The previous error seems to have gone now and the latest CBS log appears to be okay. Let's see what is happening when you're trying to update using a Process Monitor trace:

Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Try updating the system just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the square icon on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and provide the link to the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or WeTransfer.

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and type in cmd.
2.After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt:
reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
4. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
5. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
6. Copy and paste KB5014699 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
7. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.
 
Install Update with DISM

  1. Download the update MSU here: https://catalog.s.download.windowsu..._1807d6b5df2947669d4cb00d322969ccd43030a3.msu
  2. Copy the .msu file to a convenient location (such as %userprofile%\Desktop).
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd %userprofile%\Desktop
    replace %userprofile%\Desktop with your path if different

    expand windows10.0-kb5014699-x64_1807d6b5df2947669d4cb00d322969ccd43030a3.msu -f:* %userprofile%\Desktop

    DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:%userprofile%\Desktop\windows10.0-kb5014699-x64.cab

  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
    Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.
  7. If you receive any other message:
    Post a screenshot of the Command Prompt window.
    Zip and attach the file %systemroot%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Could you please provide your latest COMPONENTS hive and the latest CBS subkey? We've made a number of significant changes so probably best that we have the latest copies.
 
Could you please replace your current COMPONENTS hive with the one attached? Afterwards, please attempt to install the update using DISM again. If it fails, then please the provide CBS log(s).
