[SOLVED] windows updates is in a loop it appears

It's something we need to try sadly. What settings do you want to keep?

Also no, you should see this:

I reset all settings. No change to how Download Center is working --- still no choice of run or save

Also, when I click on a link you send me, I keep getting the "What can we help you with" box, not the specific item you linked to

Google "reset internet explorer" and click on the first link from support.microsoft.com. Also, if you click on the "Click here" button to trigger the download, does it works now?

That is what I did. No run or save box. Also no If your download does not start, click here button either.

Chrome has the if your download does not start button. It also automatically downloads.

I have googled this problem to death. ( On IE9 )

I may do a windows repair for IE

Ok, back to my new hampshire vista machine. I started it up and tried Windows update. No luck. I went to the Search for Windows Updates takes forever? - A possible solution sitr to see if there were new kb's to download and run. kb3185911 is new ( 9/16) and not run on this machine. I downloaded it-- the x86 type--- on a different computer and put it on a flash drive. I then tried to run the kb on the vista machine. Windows kept looking for updates. I could not cancel- had to end it via task manager. tried to run SURT--- spin, spin, spin. Don't know what to try next.

Go in your Windows Update control panel, click on "Change settings" and set it to never check for updates. Once done, try to install the KB3185911.

I reran SURT. log is below

Is this clean? If so, do we consider this thread as solved?

Yes, it's a normal error and it doesn't affect your Windows Update functionnality. So in my case, it looks like this thread can be marked as solved since the only issues left aren't Windows Update related.

No problem Dave, you're welcome :)
