[SOLVED] [Win7SP1Pro x64] PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

i first started experiencing this with itunes 12.6 and now 12.7. I cannot connect to any of the apple servers through itunes (itunes store, apple music, genius, even just signing into my apple account). Icloud works fine. Also if i boot into safe mode, itunes works normally and i am able to do all the things i listed above that dont work when booted in normal mode. But i did notice today, that "killer network manager" lists me as service offline, even though i am online. I have been back and forth with apple support. they suggested unistalling avast, malwarebytes, advanced system care, etc. but i still have the problem. i am hoping someone may have some insight and/or can help me and point me in the direction to get this issue taken care of. All help is very much appreciated!

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

Also - uninstall Advanced SystemCare for now. Windows 7 really does not need help in the optimization department.

Do you have an Internet Security Suite installed now or have you ever had one installed in the past? Like Norton, McAfee, KIS, etc...?

If you do or you have, run the appropriate uninstaller to make sure it is completely gone from your system -

Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software—ESET Knowledgebase

Your particular problem has "firewall" written all over it -- especially with the safemode results. (A great troubleshooting idea on your part, by the way).

Most importantly of all, be sure to first follow the prior-post advice of Moderator xilolee.

Regards. . .

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

FWIW, neither of my wired PCs 'think' they are connected to the Internet ;)

As well as the 'old security software' hangover possibility, if you use a 3rd party firewall, that can prevent the Windows firewall from popping up the question(s) on how to deal with new connections/software - this can be tested by forcing the stock firewall on, rebooting and testing the problematic software again - the popup should the occur, if that's what the problem is (it's possible that some 3rd party firewalls might still prevent Windows own firewall from starting up, in that case a full 3rd party firewall uninstall is needed before testing again).

The Killer NIC software/drivers might also be part of the problem, many users install only the base Intel drivers as they claim better compatibility and less interference with them.

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

screenshot4.jpg ok i have done the above and i still get the error. Is there a utility i can run that make find a fix. i did notice in the event viewer there are errors with bonjour service which is part of itunes.

Also in regard to firewall isue, i did "restore defaults" and i dont have a 3rd party firewall. Also i read in a forum somewhere that itunes started using a new protocol for itunes server communications with itunes 12.6 and going forward. i have not had this issue other than with itunes 12.6 back in april, which i reverted back to 12.5.5 and then last week when it updated to 12.7. i dont know if there is sometype of hijacking software that could be causing this, but i have run scans with all the previous programs (avast, malwarebytes, advanced system care) to attempt to find and remove and there was nothing.

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

the main error that started all this investigating and finding a deeper seated issue(s), was when i tried to sign into the Itunes store and got the "Verification failed" error message - "There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server."

Is this still occurring?

Can you successfully sign into the iTunes store now?

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

Did you also try without firewall (temporarily disabled)?
If no, try it.
If yes, try to run the following command from an elevated command prompt, reboot your machine, then post the result of the HostsContent - netsh-reset.txt (that should appear) on your desktop (or upload it here):

Warning
If you have set a static IP in internet protocol version 4 (tcp/ipV4) properties of your ethernet/wireless network adapter, you'll have to set it anew, after this command or after the reboot.

Note: this command was tested on windows 10 (and maybe windows 8/8.1), not on windows 7.

(type c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts && echo\ && echo\ && netsh interface ipv4 reset && echo\ && echo\ && netsh interface ipv6 reset && echo\ && echo\ && netsh interface tcp reset && echo\ && echo\ && netsh interface httpstunnel reset && echo\ && echo\ && netsh interface portproxy reset && echo\ && echo\ && netsh winsock reset && echo\ && echo\ && netsh winhttp reset) > "c:\users\%username%\desktop\HostsContent - netsh-reset.txt"
If something shouldn't work, run the commands one by one:

If you have some doubts, ask before using the command.

it is still happening and i have done everything suggested in the posts above

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

If I got you correctly, everything works fine in Safe Mode, correct? If so, please go to msconfig and disable the first half of the startup items and test, then disable the second half and test, repeat the process for Services tab and you will find the culprit.
Also, Killer drivers are known to wreak havoc on PCs and cause BSODs.

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

i get “not recognized as an internal or external command” when i try typing that or anything with c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in the command prompt

Windows Remote Management (WS-Management)
Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service implements the WS-Management protocol for remote management. WS-Management is a standard web services protocol used for remote software and hardware management. The WinRM service listens on the network for WS-Management requests and processes them. The WinRM Service needs to be configured with a listener using winrm.cmd command line tool or through Group Policy in order for it to listen over the network. The WinRM service provides access to WMI data and enables event collection. Event collection and subscription to events require that the service is running. WinRM messages use HTTP and HTTPS as transports. The WinRM service does not depend on IIS but is preconfigured to share a port with IIS on the same machine. The WinRM service reserves the /wsman URL prefix. To prevent conflicts with IIS
administrators should ensure that any websites hosted on IIS do not use the /wsman URL prefix.

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

That's a list of services, try disabling as much as you can. Leave just the essentials for your test enabled (iTuines and such).

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

i tried stopping all one by one, some would stop and some wouldnt allow me to stop them, but i still have the issue.

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

still no luck, tried the clean boot as described in the link, but the issue persists...

Re: PC thinks i have no internet connection when i do

also worth noting (i think), but i can sign into my apple ID without an issue, if its done directly on an apple website, but any communication within itunes is blocked.
