[SOLVED] windows update errors help

HEY BRIAN good morning I read your response from my last thread could we which I know we can fix this now and in two weeks remove those utilities because some of those utilities are the paid version which expire in weeks. The files that came back this time never came back before that is why I AM REQUESTING your expertise in this particular matter. this is the checksur log attached. thanks brother Brian.

Most if not all of the errors in this log are caused by the types of programs I am requesting to be uninstalled. I would suggest that we wait until they are expired and then you can uninstall them and we will continue. Thank you.
 
Good morning Brian, i have a situation with my google chrome proxy setting is grayed out so that i cannot open it to check the settings. i have checked for malware and viruses,along with trying many suggestions on the internet, but to no avail. the only way that becomes not grayed out is by working in safe mode with networking. Please help i need your computer wisdom. THANKS BRIAN.

Great. Let's give it a go. Please start with the following.

First please delete any files off of your desktop named SFCFix.txt or SFCFix.zip or SFCSCript.txt.

Then use Internet Explorer again and follow the steps below.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

i notice something Brian when i ran the sfc/scannow it said that there was no integrity violations but when i looked into the cbs logs, the log combined yesterday logs with todays logs. the cbs folder is dated 2-02-2012 but the logs start with 2-01-2016 date i never notice that before. can you give me a reason for that? and by the way you took care of business like you have always done. thanks a lot.
 
Logs are always appended to until they reach a certain size and then they are archived. So this is expected behavior on a properly functioning machine.

Good morning Brian i just ran sfc /scannow and things still looks good. now that i deleted those utilities you've recommended, what tune up utilities do you feel i could look into.?
 
I don't recommend using any registry tools/optimization tools. I don't believe regular use of these tools provide enough benefit to be considered useful. Following is a link which summarizes some of the many reasons not to.

If you still decide to do this on your own, that's fine but I would hold off until you are satisified that your machine is functioning properly with no corruption. That way if you install a tool and this happens you will know which one is causing it.

good morning Brian i posted a new thread early on the 24th with no response could you be so kind and pick up my request. i fixed the high cpu usage but i downloaded gpedit .exe for my windows 7 and i mistakenly corrupted some files in the sfc /scannow. Thanks Brian.
 
I hear you have corrupt files again. Please do the following.

Fresh Set of Logs Needed
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 32-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please copy and paste log back here.
7. The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.
