[SOLVED] [7SP1 x64] Can't install any Monthly Quality Rollups (AGAIN)

Re: [Win7SP1 x64] Can't install any Monthly Quality Rollups (AGAIN)

Hello again! Please do a fresh scan to check whether there's anything left you need to remove.

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

OK I hope this takes care of it!

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

This was a fresh drive when I installed my OS. There were no errors when I ran GSmart.

Re: [Win7SP1 x64] Can't install any Monthly Quality Rollups (AGAIN)

Please uninstall these two programs:
Firefox Developer Edition 55.0
Revo Uninstaller Pro 3.2.0

Then open a thread in the BSOD section before we continue here and be sure to provide the necessary logs. When the BSODs are resolved, we'll continue troubleshooting the Update issue.

Wait, what? I'm not sure what Revo would have to do with BSOD, but I can uninstall it. What would I include in the BSOD section, I've never considered opening a thread there?

If I need to uninstall Firefox 55, then we've hit a stopping point. It's my main driver and I can't sacrifice that unfortunately.

Re: [Win7SP1 x64] Can't install any Monthly Quality Rollups (AGAIN)

No, you've misunderstood me. I think thet revo is pirated and should be removed, and FF is devs edition and should be changed into a newer stable version!
You have experienced a BSOD, and therefore you'll need to open up a theread there according to the instructions: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista

Fine, I'll remove Revo, again, not a problem. Firefox 55 stays, because the newer versions ruined extensions. Regardless, this has nothing to do with the Windows Update issue, no?

Is the BSOD the underlying cause of Windows not updating? Is that why I have to submit a new thread? When I had this issue before, you were able to fix without this mess. I understand it's different circumstances, but still...

Re: [Win7SP1 x64] Can't install any Monthly Quality Rollups (AGAIN)

Your logs have revealed more issues that need to be resolved prior to focusing on Windows Update :) Once they have been resolved, I'll happily continue to help you solve your Windows Update issue as I have in the past.

Is there a difference between the Monthly Quality Rollup, and the Preview? Should I be attempting to install both, they both show up as updates? The Preview is Optional, but the Monthly Rollup is Important
