I keep getting this; windowsupdate.log; is there another log on the computer that goes into more detail about the errors?

what does this mean? "ErrorCode 80004005 Executable netsh.exe ExitCode 1 Phase 24"

and "Mode Uninstall (upgrade) Component Microsoft-Windows-PeerDist, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35, ProcessorArchitecture=amd64, versionScope=NonSxS"?

is it microsoft-wnidows-peerdist that is the culprit here? or netsh?

Yup, this component is the root cause, but this is a very rare error I have not seen before.
Let's do some more scans:

Open CMD as admin and enter the following:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Let me know the result and attach CBS.log and dism.log.

By the way, are you interested in upgrading to Windows 10?

is there any way for me to get independent updates rather than doing all of them, so i can skip the one update giving me problems? I'm not a big fan of windows 10 for the huge push Microsoft used upon their users against their will; the built in telemetry and the terrible mobile like interface they plastered over top of all the panels and settings everywhere; if there is a way to disable that, i might consider migrating in the future. i think its been around long enough now that many issues with it have been ironed out. I know how to disable the telemetry and crap; there are a few great programs out there like o&o's shutup 10, blackbird, and a hand full of others that do a good job tightening it up; here they are.

I;'m thinking ill force trusted installer to force start via the registry after installing the update, just prior to reboot; setting it to automatic or system, or boot.... this way it will load with the kernel during the boot process.

Forcing trusted installer to 0 (boot) and 1 (system) doesn't allow the updates to configure; Some sources suggest it could be "The TrustedInstaller service was set to manual using Group Policy (GPO), which prevented him to start to complete pending operations.
The TrustedInstaller service changes the default service startup type of Manual (3) to Automatic (2), when it encounters an update that has to process a transaction after a restart. When the value is set back to Manual before the restart the transaction that has to be applied after restart cannot be applied. This transaction will be pended. It will block all other update installations that might come....etc"

Well i was playing around with group policy and changing its settings quite vigorously so ill see if i can find that setting.

What I don't understand is why trusted installer is trying to upload "unsent reports" during the configuration stage of the update; it fails to start an upload so it shuts down.

Intel raid drivers have been installed on this computer, even though its not running raid; i removed them and will switch on from IDE to AHCI and see if that has any effect.
