Re: many corrupt files found on sfc /scannow

How old is the computer? I really don't because I got this computer from a friend, that gave up on it,. because he had damaged the hard drive and didn't want to invest in a new or refurbished hard drive, so I took it and invested about 50 dollars and revived the machine and now its running pretty good. The hard drive I brought from ebay for 30 dollars and got the recovery disk from the manufacturer for about 22 dollars. I am pretty sure now that the strange symbols in the registry comes from some software that I downloaded recently because my fiance's computer has the same look in her registry, because what I download in my computer I do the same to hers. Is there a way that I could trace these strange characters back to their creator? maybe by using something like process monitor? here is the log ListChkdskResult by SleepyDude v0.1.7 Beta | 21-09-2013

Re: many corrupt files found on sfc /scannow

I am pretty sure now that the strange symbols in the registry comes from some software that I downloaded recently
Which software ?
Are the 'strange symbols' removed if you uninstall that software again ?

Please run sfc /scannow again and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

Re: many corrupt files found on sfc /scannow

Hey PeterJ how are you today my computer tech friend. the last two software I download was clean master for pc and soft organizer a shareware giveaway . I currently removed the clean master and there was no changed in the registry and will remove the soft organizer soon. I also ran many anti virus tests for malware, rootkits , Trojans and everything else that is not good for your computer and the computer seem to be clean. PeterJ you have done a great service to get me to this point already, fixing all the checksur errors and the sfc /scannow is still giving conflicting reports saying it fix the problem and then say that it couldn't fix the problem, and I see that a member of the forum Rubygirl being serviced by softwaremaniac is having the same problem, I believe you tech geniuses will figure this thing out and help us solve this issue. Here is the sfc report.

Re: many corrupt files found on sfc /scannow

Do you have any optional Windows Updates that are not installed yet ?
If so, please take a screenshot of that list, upload the image file to a file-sharing site and post the download link.

Re: many corrupt files found on sfc /scannow

No optional updates pending and as for those weird characters in my registry I backed my registry, and then created a new restore point, and then I exported those two registry keys and saved them and then deleted those two keys. Now I will see the effect of these steps if any.
