[SOLVED] Cannot Upgrade IE 9 to 10 or 11

Always the same error. Try to install it again please, but this time follow the instructions below.

Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Attempt to install IE11 just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as the install fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log.

Yes sorry. I had a lot to do yesterday evening and I cannot check the logs at work. It's on my "to-do" list for when I get home tonight however, thanks for sticking with me :)

We've been on this issue for around 15 days right now. I'm also a tier 2 tech support and if it was a computer at my job, I would have just reinstalled Windows after a day of troubleshooting, way faster :P

We might end up with that or I can change my workflow a bit. I do want to try what I can and maybe learn a few things in the process.

Well I certainly won't disagree with the fact that you'll learn in the process, however, this shouldn't impact your work :P When you work for a company, a reinstall will often be favored over a long and complex troubleshooting, because it saves time and money. At first I didn't like the idea (because I enjoy troubleshooting), but then I realized that if I was always troubleshooting weird issues like these, I would end up being in my calls and requests and also my boss would probably ask me why I'm spending so much time on an issue, when I could reinstall Windows and have the workstation up and ready in less than 2 hours.

Me and my colleagues are brainstorming ideas in another thread about your issue. I'll have to review your Procmon log that you gave me when I get home tonight. Brian (my instructor) managed to solve this issue in another thread, but the method he used didn't work for you so we have to find another one.

It has now been fixed! I ran all repairs available to me in the tweaking.com Windows Repair toolbox in Safe mode twice and I was able to upgrade. Thanks again for your time and assistance!

Really? Well, that was unexpected... At least I'm glad that your issue has been solved, at last!
