[SOLVED] Cant run SFCfix cause of side by side configuration is incorrect

Instead of the command
expand windows8.1-kb5018474-x64_04d5097ac019afc70c130f027942a7f0ee9bf890.msu -f:* D:\FIXUP

use the command
expand windows8.1-kb5018474-x64.msu -f:* D:\FIXUP

If that works resume with the next steps.
If not report the failure.

it still didnt work

C:\WINDOWS\system32>expand windows8.1-kb5018474-x64.msu -f:* D:\FIXUP

Can't open input file: windows8.1-kb5018474-x64.msu.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>

Now I see. You used another drive as a temporary folder.
In message #60 you used the command C:\WINDOWS\system32>cd D:\FIXUP
That only changes on drive D: the active folder to FIXUP. It does not change the active folder on the system drive C:. The command expand can therefor not find the input file.
Please do following.
  • Move the folder FIXUP from drive D: to drive C:
Now you should have C:\FIXUP instead of D:\FIXUP
  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\FIXUP

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand windows8.1-kb5018474-x64_04d5097ac019afc70c130f027942a7f0ee9bf890.msu -f:* C:\FIXUP

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\FIXUP\windows8.1-kb5018474-x64.cab
  • You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.
  • If you receive any other message:
Post a screenshot of the Commandprompt window.
Zip and attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Sooooo mmmmmmhhhhh i just realized the file name for the

Attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log also.

The files dism.log and cbs.log do not line up in time.

Open an elevated commandprompt again.
Enter the command cd C:\FIXUP again and press enter.
Next, enter the command DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\FIXUP\windows8.1-kb5018474-x64.cab again and press enter.
Wait for this to finish.
When it fails, attach the files C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log and C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your next reply.

Step 1:
Download the attachment Manifests.zip and save it on your desktop.
Right-click the file Manifests.zip on your desktop and select Extract all. Keep the default folder and click the button Extract.
When completed there should be a folder Manifests on your desktop which we need in the next step.

Step 2:
Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Attach the logfile Fixlog.txt to your next reply.

No, that was only valid for a previous fix.
Please perform the instructions as given in message #70.

it is on the desktop when i did it so that fixlog should still be be valid
No. You started the tool FRST64.exe from the folder C:\Users\happy\Desktop\FRSTfix, not C:\Users\happy\Desktop which is your desktop.
