[SOLVED] Error 8007312; SFC /scannow and SfcFix Both Clean

When I pressed any key to boot from USB the screen I got says: choose an operating system to start...

windows setup (EMS enabled)

I don't know what's going on but I need to bail on this for a while.

Same thing happened. Any idea why?

I'll try one more time in the morning. Out of patience here.

As long as you are booting from the smaller USB stick (not the one that you purchased recently), then if this comes up again, simply hit enter on the keyboard to select it. Thanks.

The Windows Setup EMS enabled screen is a different screen than I got before when I hit any key to boot from USB. This one doesn't lead to the "x
system 32" prompt. When I hit enter on it like you said in your last post I get the same BS message I got before about this being a different version of Windows than the one currently installed.

i haven't tried it again yet but will in about an hour.

Ok I was able to get to the "x system32 prompt." ImageX tool started and started
scanning files. Now at 4% progress. Says 2:42 hours remaining. Does
that sound right? If this works as it should than by 3pm it will complete, I can then start the backup and be back up and running tonight.

Disconnect any USB drives and then plug in your external drive that has your system image on it.

Reboot the computer and press the “F8” key while it’s booting. Select the “Repair Your Computer” option and press Enter to boot into recovery mode.Choose your keyboard layout when asked, and then select the “Restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier” option in the System Recovery Options window. Select a system image from a connected drive and go through the rest of the wizard to restore it.

Let me know if you have any questions while doing this.

So I should leave my external with the system image plugged in and reboot? That's the only USB drive currently plugged in?

and what command should I use to reboot from the x systtem32 prompt?

Correct.

You can just power off your machine and then power it back on and begin hitting F8 on the keyboard until you get the menu of options.

Rebooted, hit "repair you let computer", got "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows disk... Status 0xc000000f info: the boot selection failed bc a req device is inaccessible.

Same BS message I got before.

I booted from DVD and Am now at the Install Now page.

Install now or repair your computer, which should I choose at this point?

Re-image Your Computer: "Windows cannot find a system image on this computer."

i have the USB with the system image plugged in.

Of course it wouldn't be easy. :banghead:

Does your external USB drive contain only backups from Windows 7 and only from this machine? Or have you backed it up when it was Vista or made backups of another machine on to it?

I need to step out but will be back shortly.

External USB with system image has only Windows 7 stuff on it. Nothing related to Vista.

I don't have much left in me to keep fighting this battle. Not having desktop email access is something I can't be without for
another day.
