Install sequence for KB4490628, KB4474419

I looked in "Installed Updates" and KB976933 does not appear. From a search on the Internet this seems to be an old update that may have been missing when the computer was built 5-6 years ago.

WOW I will have to get up the nerve to try that sometime. Wouldn't it be easier to try and install KB976933 ?

You might try that first if you like. I doubt that will fix it.

I thought you had KB976933 already.
Please perform a clean boot, here is a snapshot from How to perform a clean boot in Windows for your Windows 7 machine:
  1. Sign in to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
  2. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
Note If you're prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    Start Search box - msconfig.exe

  3. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
System Configuration - General tab - Selective startup option checked

Important If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We strongly recommend that you don’t use the System Configuration utility to change the advanced boot options on the computer unless a Microsoft support engineer directs you to do this. Doing this may make the computer unusable.
  4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
System Configuration - Services tab - Hide all Microsoft services check box checked

Note This step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
  5. Click OK, and then click Restart. Once the computer restarts in a clean boot environment, you can follow troubleshooting steps to install, uninstall, or run your application. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

Your comment using Clean Boot seems to be related to a System Problem. The trigger for my question would require trying to install KB4474419. Would this interfere with the Clean Boot environment? After the Update, I hope, then I would UnCheck Hide all Microsoft services and Click Enable all and Restart? Does Disable all shutdown the Browser?
Also, KB976933 does not exist in the Microsoft Update Catalog or a general search in the browser.
SearchReg.txt does show Windows7SP1-KB976933~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.17514.mum
This is another example where Package files are referenced in Register and no where else. Where is the executable????

I run Malwarebytes and Tweaking.com and ReflectUI(which I will turn off at startup). I have a NVIDIA card which starts a lot of drivers. I only use the video and NOT the gaming or 3-D(which I can't seem to turn off from starting).

The reason I want you to perform a clean boot is that third-party software might block a successfull installation of this Windows Update.

KB4474419 just showed up in Windows Update in the Control Panel.
I plan on also trying KB4499175 before trying it.
In the Optional choices there are KB4499178 and KB4505050.
Do you know anything negative on these before I run them and then run 4419?
Thanks

You might try the other updates but I expect they will fail.

KB4505050 installed okay. KB4499178 installed 98% before it removed itself. I looked in the CBS.Log which is huge. No reference to kb4499178 but at the end there was
Appl: Partial install Status testing, package: Package_for_KB2533552~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1, partially installed (true/false), 0
2019-06-07 15:09:03, Info CBS Session: 30743933_2650987586 initialized by client WindowsUpdateAgent.
2019-06-07 15:09:03, Info CBS Failed to internally open package. [HRESULT = 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE]
The date on this in the Windows update is 1/2/2012.

I will now try KB4499175.

Before I do I have a question on the CBS.LOG and how it can be closed before an install so it does NOT get huge?

The CBS.log will automatically renamed if it exceeds a certain size. The size can vary between 50MB and 4GB.

I checked the Event Logs and it said both KB4499175 and KB4499178 installed okay. This is getting very weird.
Also, the CBS.LOG does not reference either one of these so it seems the failure is CBS itself.
I found an article that about turning off CBS. I will have to try and locate it again.

Windows CBS Log File Eating Up Disk Space - Information Technology Division Information Technology Division

Stop the Windows Modules Installer service, by clicking Start and in the Search box type services.msc
Scroll down to the Windows Modules Installer service and double-click on it
Under Service status, click Stop, then click OK
Use File Explorer to go to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS. (If Windows is installed on a different hard drive, you have to go to that drive.)\
Delete all of the files in that folder
For good measure, delete all the "cab*" files in your Windows Temp folder, typically C:\Windows\Temp
Reboot

I'm not sure how to proceed in this thread. I try to help but you do not perform the instructions I ask you. Therefore I feel like closing this thread.

Please don't close it. It is just that following the trail of issues has led us to "Event Logs and it said both KB4499175 and KB4499178 installed okay" They don't show in Windows Update installed. CBS.LOG doesn't have them. What is there " Info CBS Failed to internally open package. [HRESULT = 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE]"
This is why it looks to me as if the problem isn't with these KB files, but with CBS.
What do you think?
Could this be related to the initial problem with KB4474419?

How would I get to it without a browser?
Print the page, save it on your computer first or use a second computer.

I am still concerned about CLEAN BOOT. I am connected to the Internet through COX in Las Vegas.
