Install sequence for KB4490628, KB4474419

I went ahead and copied the files directly to the desktop and PowerCopy ran okay. This is very different than previous executions.
Well done. That is what we want.
Never use a shortcut if we tell you to put a file on your desktop. Always move the actual file.

Check Windows Update again and report the result.

Everything seems to have gone into WINSXS. What would I expect to see in Windows Update? Should I just try to install KB4499178 again?
I won't be able to do anything more till this weekend.

Try to install the oldest available Windows Update that is listed and report the result.

October 10, 2017—KB4041681
This is the oldest I have that isn't hidden. It was at this time I could not get Monthly Rollups to install and I had to go directly to the catalog for the Security pieces. I will try and install this tomorrow most likely.

Before I ran KB4041681 I checked for the Security Only update for it KB4041678 and found it was installed. I will try KB4499178 which was the original failure.

FRST Scan:
  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
  2. Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  3. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  4. Press the Scan button.
  5. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  6. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Okay I ran it. It messed up MY Chrome page and reverted to the default. This was corrected.
Why all the videolan activity?

Why all the videolan activity?
Only the Chrome cache was cleared, nothing about your Chrome homepage. For Chrome, the fix cleared the cache only.
The videolan items were not found, videolan is not installed so I assumed these were remnants.

I just found out that even though I don't use IE11 as a browser it MUST be updated for other system uses.
I will be installing KB4503259 later and then checking out what Security Updates I missed. If all that works okay, I will then try KB4474419.
With all the fixes you have supplied I really hope Updates/Rollups start to work next month.

Best to install KB4503259 only and report back if it fails. If the installation was successful proceed with other Windows Updates.

I don’t seem to have IE11 installed. I went to Program Files/Internet Explorer and tried to run ieinstal.exe as Admin. The screen flashed no IE Installed. I even tried the 32bit version.
I have Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

I also only have iexplore.exe.mui which do nothing.

Please zip all files in the folder C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and attach it to your next reply.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and provide the download link.

I fixed the IE11 problem. I turned it off in the Control Center in the past. Checking it allowed iexplore.exe to run and KB4503259 ran OKAY.
I will start to find and run any missing Security Updates. Wish me luck. It will take the weekend if I am lucky.
Thanks again.

What exactly did you turned off ?
A screenshot of that would be helpful.
