Could the cause of this be the #100 issue?????

Another piece of information that I hope will help.
No. it doesn't. It's confusing. Please stop posting multiple replies. Post only one reply and then wait.

Sorry but all the information was related to the 1 problem of Loging in. They are not separate issues, YET.

I need to have a look at the SOFTWARE hive.

Retrieve Software Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the SOFTWARE file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, try Option#2 below.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named SOFTWARE.ZIP on your desktop.
4. Upload the zip file (SOFTWARE.zip) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are FileDropper or One Drive or SendSpace.
5. Note:Send the downloadlink in a private message as the SOFTWARE hive contains sensitive information!

Option#2 (only if you are unable to follow the previous instructions)

  • Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to.
  • Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open.
  • Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start.
  • When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button.
  • This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see one entry in this list with the date that you did it. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup...
  • This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, one of which is named SOFTWARE.
  • Copy the SOFTWARE file to your Desktop. If the SOFTWARE file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE.
  • Now right-click on the SOFTWARE file that is on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Then please upload the zip file (SOFTWARE.zip) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are FileDropper or One Drive or SendSpace.
  • Note:Send the downloadlink in a private message as the SOFTWARE hive contains sensitive information!
  • You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBak program now.

I couldn't find a send button so I tried something else. Did you receive it?

FRST File Search
  1. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  2. Copy and paste Windows7SP1-KB976933* into the Search box and click the Search Files button.
  3. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'Search.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also.
  4. Close Notepad and attach the file 'Search.txt' to your next reply.

I will try and install that if I don't find it. The issue of Windows Update has gotten even messier. I changed the the Windows Update Settings in the Control Panel to "Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download and install them". Well the stupid Application brings down updates and those in the important section are checked for installation. 3 of them are sitting in the View Update History as Pending. Somehow 3 Updates to Microsoft Security Essentials were processed after these without my actions.

I downloaded your suggestion and ran it. It asked if I wanted to RUN and of course I chose Run. Nothing happened. I checked Windows Update and there was no action and no previous installation. Should I go directly to the Windows Update Catalog for kb2483139 and try again?

I went to the Catalog and kb2483139 is not available. I was checking in case you wanted me to try it.
The response was "We did not find any results for "kb2483139"

I tried to run it again as Admin and it created/flashed a large lg.cab file which I cannot locate. Will the Language packs install on a
Windows 7 Professional 64bit configuration?

I don't think it will, you need the Windows 7 Ultimate version.
Did you had the French language pack ever installed ?

  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Curious. What are you finding and going after?
Thanks
Also, earlier you mentioned you were not in the States. Where is home?

I have a D: partition on a separate Harddrive which suddenly has a Fonts Backup folder from 3/15/2011. It contains Fonts with 2008, 2009 and 2010. Was this creation from our previous work?
Thanks

I was looking if the French language pack was installed. It is not.
Home is somewhere in Europe.

Attach the file C:\Users\Chuck\Desktop\03.07.2019_20.00.25.zip to your next reply.

Okay. I just found that zip. Looking at the 2 files I see they are FAT and my partitions are NTFS. Are these compatible? This is just
for my ignorance. Thanks
