[SOLVED] Issue with KB5009543 Windows 10 Update

Hi,

Please enable the driver updates from Microsoft, this is the cause of the yellow exclamation mark for that device. If you don't want to enable the driver updates from Microsoft, you can download for the Lenovo AIO330-20IGM the following driver. This driver is for the cardreader in this system.

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop/j1car27us17avc.exe

Code:
>>>  [Device Install (DiShowUpdateDevice) - PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5229&SUBSYS_36ED17AA&REV_01\00000001004CE00000]
>>>  Section start 2022/03/02 11:41:00.667
      cmd: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe" "C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc"
     dvi: {DIF_UPDATEDRIVER_UI} 11:41:00.689
     dvi:      Default installer: Enter 11:41:00.720
     dvi:      Default installer: Exit
     dvi: {DIF_UPDATEDRIVER_UI - exit(0xe000020e)} 11:41:00.736
     ndv: {Update Driver Software Wizard - PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5229&SUBSYS_36ED17AA&REV_01\00000001004CE00000}
! ndv: Searching Windows Update has been disabled for the Update Wizard.
! ndv: Policy has been set to prevent searching Windows Update for drivers.
     ndv: {Update Driver Software Wizard exit(000004c7)}
<<<  Section end 2022/03/02 11:41:04.649
<<<  [Exit status: FAILURE(0x000004c7)]

I installed the cardreader driver so Device Manager no longer shows a PCI Device with Yellow Triangle and Exclamation Mark.

I have some PC housekeeping questions.

For Update options, what is the recommendation in regard to Receive updates for other MS products when you update Windows. Should it be set to On or Off?

Before posting on the forums (BC and Sysnative), I did a lot of tweaking in my effort to resolve the Windows 10 update issue. In Services for Startup Type, I first Disabled many items and then reset to Manual startup. Are there specific Startup Types that should be assigned (i.e. Manual (Trigger Start), Automatic (Delayed Start), Automatic, etc.) that I may not have designated correctly and if certain Services should now be Running or Stopped?

I was experiencing some PC "slowness" with programs sometimes "not responding" so I made changes to the Paging file size in Virtual Memory but I'm not sure what the correct settings are supposed to be. Should the setting be "automatically manage paging file size for all drives" or, if customized, should I follow the recommended formula based on my 4GB of RAM (Initial size would be 1.5 x 4,096 = 6,144 MB and maximum size would be 3 x 4,096 = 12,288 MB) or should I enter something else?

P.S. A huge thank you for fixing my Windows 10 Update issue!

Hi,

Your welcome!

When you disable this option, you don't get updates for Office or other Microsoft software.

Yes, each service has his own starttype, but with the repair install they are all set to the default value.

The best solution to prevent instabilities is to adding more RAM, maybe it is possible to replace the 4GB SODIMM with an 8GB module? So far as I know is increasing the page file size not recommended. The best way is to let Windows choose the best initial and maximum settings for the page file.

For this question please start a new thread in the hardware section about upgrading your PC's RAM and/or recommended settings for the page file.

Thanks for the answers especially about each Service having its own Startup type and that they were all set to the default value after the repair install.

In regard to the Virtual Memory, it's set to "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" but as you indicated, I will start a new thread in the hardware section to get more information about recommended settings for the page file. I also need help to figure out what's consuming 3.86 GB of my 4.00 GB of RAM leaving only 847 MB Available.

As previously mentioned, I am very thankful that my Windows 10 updates are now working. I have another Sysnative forum member helping me with the update issue on my Dell PC running Windows 8.1 and once that has been resolved, I plan on making a donation.

Hi,

Your welcome, thank you in advance for your consideration to make a donation.
I'll mark this thread as solved!

Hi Maxstar,
I'm not sure which particular forum on Sysnative I need to post my new Windows 10 problem and would appreciate you letting me know. I cannot open "Settings" either via the Start button (flashes on and then disappears) or from the command prompt start ms-settings which yields the response windows cannot find ms-settings. I can provide relevant information as to what changed recently to trigger this problem but will wait to hear back from you in case you wish to direct me to a different Sysnative forum to start a new topic.
Many thanks.
JP
