So my windows version is windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit operating system, and the title said what happened first. I Did sfc/scannow as the google searched articles said, but received "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them". I Did download and run SFCFix as the google searched article said about the error, but failed repairing, and leads me to this website. Then followed everything about posting instructions in this forum. Hoped someone could help me. Thanks in Advance! :D

Oh... It's been a week now... I am still waiting patiently for my turn to come :D

For now, I'll add some addtional infos:

1.) I Tried the SP1 Update (my computer experienced a reformat 2-3 months ago, causing me to update those security features again) but it failed. Making me tried SURT and after the run, i ran SFCFix and found 53 corruptions.

2.)in case you wondered how i will perform the "run administrator" if i can't do the right clicking, the keyboard, luckily, has a button that act like it. Just some arrow keys and that context-menu button will do the alternative work.

Hello and welcome,

Follow the instructions below please.

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.
    1p8eDnI.gif
  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Sorry for the delay. Just got internet back just now.
While we are doing this, i would like to ask some questions, but feel free not to answer if this causes distraction to the progress.

Does force shutdown causes these corruptions to happen?

Does force shutdown causes these corruptions to happen?
A forced shutdown is never a good thing. Files might get corrupted if still in use during a forced shutdown.
Why are you performing a forced shutdown ?

Start the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
On completion, attach the logfile C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply.

I didn't intend to perform a forced shutdown. My Laptop doesn't have a battery (since it's not working anymore) so some loose plug or a brownout causes a shutdown (so far, it happened 3-5 times overall since reformat.)

Here's The logfile:

Is Avast still installed and if so which version ?

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again. Note: If you find that you need to reboot and are unable to because this is a server then try Option#2 below.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Option#2 (only if you are unable to follow the previous instructions)

  • Please download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to.
  • Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open.
  • Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start.
  • When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button.
  • This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see one entry in this list with the date that you did it. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup...
  • This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, one of which is named COMPONENTS.
  • Copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.
  • Now right-click on the COMPONENTS file that is on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Then please upload the zip file (COMPONENTS.zip) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.
  • You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBak program now.

There are two files here; one that is capitalized but only 1kb, and the other is uncapitalized but 20mb. Which of the two?

Ive just updated the antivirus to the latest version yesterday, while the whole last week or 2 doesn't have internet, so i guess im safe from virus attacks since im offline. The last time i perform a whole scan through malwarebytes (since articles said both this and avast are good together installed, is that true?) said there are no malware, but i'll run a whole scan again later to sure things out.

There should be only 1 file called COMPONENTS and without an extension.

Sorry for the delay. I guess i'm going to say this head on now. This computer is shared by my younger siblings, so I'm quite having a hard time to get my turn, then include the limited internet connection because I'm living in a developing country.

I have another question: Isn't windows update capable of fixing also this?

here's the link.

components.zip

Not the issues with the Avast.

Yes, and the application is up to date to the latest version. The virus definitions are outdated by just 2 days ago, since updating it everyday eats our data little by little.

The components file i send to you isn't capitalized, but has no extension like .log of its variations, so i got the right file right??

Yes you did. :-)

  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
32-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
  2. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  3. Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  4. Press the Fix button.
  5. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  6. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  7. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  8. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

I can't see the attachment on your recent reply (or the fixlist.txt is located at the FRST download website too?)

Sorry, if have attached it now.

Here's the attached file.

Seeing the log file, my issue has something to do with Avast. can you explain what's going on? Feel free not to answer it too if the explanation is complicated.

The Avast issues were just remnants of a previous Avast installation.

Step 1:
Restart the computer.
Run sfc /scannow again. On completion zip the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

Step 2:
Start the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
On completion, attach the logfile C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply.

I just realized, if i only have stable internet on my side, my problem must be already resolved in one day, seeing everything works with minimal internet. Im typing this now in a text-only search engine called free basics, and limits me to open websites in text mode only and cant upload files, even kilobyte sized ones. I only rely to my parents' data subscription (since im only 18) so im just waiting my chance when i am able to use it.

For the meantime, this delay may be longer, and im just letting you know about my situation. Sorry for the great delay.

Wait... Can i just copy-paste the logfiles instead rather than attaching? I can make a way for it to send the text from my computer to my phone. For the CBS log i can just do a sfc scan, remember when i start the scan, and copy the text from that time (or 1 minute less to be sure) to the latest to reduce text flood here. What do you think?

The file CBS.log can be lengthly so that one not. Have a look a the file size of CheckSur.log which may be small enough to copy-paste into your reply.

sorry if the cbs log file is not zipped. for some reason this following message appeared:
"Windows cannot create the compressed (zipped) folder.
The file may be in use."
also tried to the checkSUR log, same message.

CBS log file is in this link.
CBS.log
