My New Planned Builds

And I was talking about the comment about RAID. You don't put opticals in a RAID.

As for having two opticals, I do. But only because I had a DVD R/W but wanted BluRay. So I added a BluRay drive and kept the DVD.

I just like confusing you... Sorry Bill

My note about 2 drives were referring to optical drives, like you I have one normal DVD drive and one blueray... The first is mostly used when I need to make multiple copies of DVDs...

Onto the RAID discussion, I noticed a rather large jump in performance when I put my SSDs in raid... This is with the onboard raid-controller on my MOBO(See right) with 16gbs of ram...

Granted clusters do change and have different purposes but... What enthusiast doesn't go for MAX SPEED! :lolg:

I currently have 4 HDDs in my computer and looking to add another...

My 2 SSDs in raid0, a 750gb WD black and a 150gb raptor...

Would love another WD black drive if someone is selling one :) I'm filling mine up rather quickly...

I just like confusing you... Sorry Bill
I am perfectly capable of doing that all by myself, thank you. ;)

a 750gb WD black
Would love another WD black drive if someone is selling one :) I'm filling mine up rather quickly...
And just earlier today I was saying how, long ago and far away, my "more than I will ever need" 20Mb drive was full and I had to spend a fortune for a "way more than I will ever need" 80Mb drive. And how clever I was for adding the 80 as D drive instead of replacing the 20 as C - so, with a whopping 100Mb, I would never-ever run out of disk space.

Now 2Tb drives are almost common - your measly .75Tb ;) is wimpy wimpy wimpy.

this machine will be raid free..

What are you going to do about the termites????

I used to be the same way with multiple optical drives... I had to, at least, have one DVD reader and one DVD burner... As soon as one so much as hiccupped I was @ the store to buy another... But now, I rarely use my optical drive... Usually to load some software or create bootable discs... What I use my DVD burner for the most is making backups of other peoples personal files when I work on their PCs.

Just about everything I need to do now, I can do with USB drives... And with Windows 8's built in .iso mounting... I can run my installation discs without wasting the physical media.

My case has 3x 5.25" expansion bays... One is a 3.5" hot-swap bay, one is my DVD burner and the last was a 2.5" hot swap bay and fan controller... I removed it when I was having big issues with my PC... I am going to get another eventually.

You guys are impossible....

I get off work and this is what I'm greeted with?

Anyways, I'm gonna have a busy Friday.

I'm gonna sit my butt in front of my computer and look at all my screw up's and miscalculations ... Ok sorry for all the doom and gloom. These last few weeks haven't been the best for me.

Actually, what it means is I'm probably gonna go to wal-mart. I'm probably gonna clean. I'm probably gonna clean more of my past outta my hard drives, and I'm probably gonna redo my computer builds for the 15th time. (almost literally).

So yea.... Now I'm gonna vanish and go to bed... maybe... ah who am I kidding... I should just not even bother anymore...

I changed my build 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times before I bought everything :lolg:

Don't stress it :grin1:

True! There is no reason to stress over it, my friend! What you are doing is quite a task... Pre-building a group of computers that you, likely, will not build all of them before the technology changes again... It is like that... Every time I complete a new build, within a week or two, I see something I wish I waited for.

Its not the thread or rhe builds that's messing with me GZ. there's a heavy. rock in the way. laxer knows. I'm gonna apologise for the poor grammar now. I'm mobile and mobile ff is not working right for me.

You guys (and girls) are the best friends I could ever ask for. Ok sure you all don't live right next door but that's not what counts. Thanks everyone. :)

Hey gang! I'm back in the game!

After much careful thought. An end of an unreliable relationship was much needed. I have someone new and better in so many ways, they do live further away but we're staying strong together. I'm happier.

So with that I've had a shift in projects. So we're jumping right into the computer builds. I'm starting with the netbook replacement, for obvious reasons.

I did add some more cooling to the case, stuck with stock cooler on the cpu. I also added a 21.5" monitor w/ built in webcam.

So let's get our engines started and get this build done!

Edit: I ordered the case today. (11/3) I also ordered two of my favorite movies.

Workin on the netbook replacement. Nothing part wise as changed really for it.

Check your cell btw dude. :) ANYWAYS I ordered the gladiator 600. Then realized its actually a discontinued case. Oops. Down side to being cheap.

And for movies I got the gift of the night fury and book of dragons. Next paycheck if I have the money I'm gonna order battleship.
