New Builds Released

New issues have been added to the blog post regarding Build 14926.

PC: "UPDATED: After updating to this build, built-in Windows 10 apps such as Calculator, Alarms & Clock, and Voice Recorder may not work. To get these apps working again, go to the Store and re-download/install them."

Mobile: Two new issues added. Via Brandon LeBlanc on Twitter, a hard reset fixes the issues for most people. He also shared this link: You might want to reconsider installing 14926 on Mobile – UPDATE – ChangeWindows

Based on Twitter comments, many people are pleased with the introduced change to collapse the app list in the Start menu. Personally, I've found that feature faster to navigate than the previous method but to each their own.

The new Build also includes a Photo update, a new Windows Update icon, expanded Active Hours to 18 and more. As usual, see the blog post for completed details.

Known Issues for PC:
If you have 3rd party antivirus products such as Bitdefender, Kaspersky Antivirus, F-Secure Antivirus and Malwarebytes installed on your PC – your PC might not be able to complete the update to this build and roll-back to the previous build.

Based on feedback I've received from Advanced Setup on the Malwarebytes forum, with Malwarebytes (an anti-malware software NOT and A/V), try disabling Rootkit scanner and the Web blocker.

I'm liking how they've finally managed to finish tweaking, polishing and debugging the account sign-in screen...over a year after Windows 10 was first released. My friend's laptop still shows a black background before swiping/pressing a key but hopefully soon we'll all be on the new version. Still can't quite get my head around why it's taken so long to get the sign-in screen fixed up and properly working.

I've yet to see the issue with the sign-in screen.

Note: Regarding the known issue for PC's with certain A/V products, including Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, after disabling Malicious Website Protection (Premium version), the install of 14946 proceeded. Note that even with uninstalling Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, deleting the Program Data folder, restarting/reinstalling, Microsoft Edge does not launch, I'm finding that Edge still does not launch (Bug Report updated, Microsoft Edge Failes to Launch With Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Running - Microsoft Edge Development).

"The Windows 10 Creators Update" Insider Build 14959 for PC & Mobile released to Fast Ring: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14959 for Mobile and PC | Windows Experience Blog

In addition to the ongoing issue with 3rd party security programs preventing the builds to be installed, there is an issue where Internet Explorer may crash a few seconds after launch and working. Note: Disabling "Malicious Website Protection" in Malwarebytes Anti-Malware allows the new builds to be installed.

The update includes lots of changes to Cortana along with changes to Windows Game Bar and Windows Ink. Ebates, Intel TrueKey, and Read & Write extensions have been added to Microsoft Edge. In addition to Narrator improvements, take a look at the new Windows Defender dashboard in this build.

Of major interest to many will the the change to Windows Update. In addition to "restart now”, “Schedule” a time that works for you, or simply “Remind me later” are also available.

Numerous changes, fixes and improvements for PC. An interesting addition in this build for both PC & Mobile is that Windows Insiders in the U.S. can now purchase e-books directly from the Windows Store and read them in Microsoft Edge. With this build any unprotected e-book in the EPUB file format can also be read with Microsoft Edge.

Gamers, be sure to read the blog post!

With Data Privacy tomorrow, it is fitting that the new privacy settings are included in this build.

IMPORTANT: The download progress indicator shown when downloading this build is currently broken under Settings > Update & security > Windows Update. It may look like you’re getting stuck at 0% or at other percentages. Ignore the indicator and be patient. The build should download fine and the installation should kick off. Some people may still run into the "Initializing" issue:

Windows Insider Build 15042 Released to Fast Ring for PC, Build 15043 for Mobile: Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 15042 for PC and Build 15043 for Mobile - Windows Experience BlogWindows Experience Blog.

Note: Due to a bug discovered before release, 32-bit PCs are blocked from getting this build.

I'm happy to see the addition of a "Prompt to enable Flash in Microsoft Edge (PC)" instead of it being always enabled after allowing it once.

The “Initializing…” issue when attempting to download new builds as well as the download progress indicator appearing to be stuck at 0% or similar should no longer be issues.

See the referenced blog post for additional fixes/improvements as well as known issues.
