Post your desktop!

Very nice desktop you have! I'm jealous :)

I stopped using Rainmeter a few months ago, found I didn't actually look at my desktop enough to actually make it useful. But still, yours is very nice

Thanks,I'm so used to having Rainmeter around it looks empty without it,plus I love playing around modifying the skins.

You see... I prefer it that way!!!

I have been making use of folders and workspaces rather than my desktop recently... I still use my DT on my laptop, but that is because I only have one screen...

Nice desktops both of you. I was gonna post mine but decided not to. Too much personal stuff at the moment. Besides by the time I post something, I change it. And the next update isnt till I get a few other things out of the way.

I agree, it did look empty when I took it away. I just filled the void with desktop icons!

You can see my old desktop here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/graphics/347-post-your-desktop-5.html#post27649

My current, far more boring one:

It's quite clean today, but when I'm working on a project, it becomes a dumping ground. :p

Yeah,I had a similar Rainmeter one as your old one a while back but have settled on my present one with a more minimalist look.Good thing about Rainmeter is it hardly uses any memory even with a fair few skins running.

Mine is just plain black with not a single icon.

Seriously.

That's too boring to be out of choice... does it have This copy of Windows is not genuine in the corner? :hysterical:

lol, good one :)

But in fact it does not, and is by choice. Evidence:

I never thought I would have to post a screenshot like that before!

Strange things happen on internet forums...!

No taskbar...? Auto-hide????

Far too boring for me, it must have something on. Even just another plain colour. Anything but plain black!! I can get you something if you want!

I think you win the screenshot competition!

I used to have a solid black wallpaper because it made it so much easier to find my icons but I don't think I could put up with an icon-less black desktop. One question: why? :p

Maybe it's a custom theme: black taskbar, black orb, black icons :p Now that would be an annoying prank to play on someone!

I used to despise auto-hide but I love it now! :D

Ah, the why :p

It probably isn't what you expect.

At first, I set it to black so I could easily find icons.

But then things got a little out of hand, and I ended up with so many icons that it was taking me longer to find the icon than it would to use alternative methods, such as start menu.

I had 493 icons. (63GB, 3,900 folders, 45,000 files), with genuinely no idea what any of it is or why I need it - but it was all important enough to put on Desktop initially, therefore I can't just delete it!

In fact, I still have that many, I have just unchecked "Show Desktop Icons".

Is that what you expected!?

Ah, should've suspected the Show Desktop Icons switch - I used to use it when I had a screen full of Rainmeter skins :)

lol, I'm exactly the same apart from I have a mere 5GB on mine. I think we need another Desktop folder! The problem is, I always drop files on my Desktop quickly with a view of organising, or working on, them later but it rarely happens so the clutter just builds up and up. I need to have a good sort out on my computer at some point, it's now showing the free space in gigabytes which is a bit daunting if I'm filling her up this fast!

I don't have this issue at home as I run dual monitor setup, but on my laptop I run a little program that creates Linux style, virtual desktops (workspaces)...

I love it!

Dexpot | Virtuelle Desktops für Windows

I will try and remember to reinstall it (just recently upgraded my LT to Win8) and post some screenshots later on tonight!

Of course there is always Sysinternals Desktops...

As promised... Some screenshots from my laptop...

I love the Desktops program from Sysinternals but it doesn't have the function of creating a separate desktop folder for each workspace... This does...

EDIT:

Just an FYI... I am not sure if this is a new addition or not, but I realized when I reinstalled the program, it also installed the "Entrusted Toolbar" from Conduit... So beware if you want to try it.

Thanks Bruce! I've installed Dexpot and I'm trying it now, so far so good :)

How are you liking it so far???

I enjoy running it on 8... I usually keep it disabled (not running at start) and start it up when I want my separate workspaces... Each workspace has it's own folder, so I can have the convenience of the desktop to work, without having 1000 open windows...

Don't get me wrong, I love Desktops (sysinternals), and I use it at work, but there is no functionality to have separate folders for the desktop...

I love it!

Yeah I'm the same. If I start to juggle too many windows then I'll fire it up and have one for work, one for Facebook and other time wasting websites, one for forums etc. It makes things so much more manageable! Thanks again for sharing it :)
