Problem with windows update - now boots to black screen with cursor. SFC & DISM no longer work. Can't repair.

Uninstall 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8720'.

Restart the machine then try to install KB2919355.
If it fails, attach the files C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log and C:\Windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log.

Well that finally did the trick(!!) AND its offering my the next updates - am I good to install them all?

Start with "Security Update for Microsoft .NET..." only and report the result.

Great. Try to install KB3000850 only and report the result.

Hmm, I just asked to install KB3000850.

SFCFix scan:
  • Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.
