Problem with windows update - now boots to black screen with cursor. SFC & DISM no longer work. Can't repair.

Okay.

Restart the machine.
Try to install KB3000850 again.
If it fails attach the files C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log and C:\Windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log.

I don't see KB3000850 available, so it must have gone through the last time I tried and no errors showed up?

This is what I currently see;

btw my onboard bluetooth works again and that has not worked in months/years!

Is it listed as successful in "Installed Updates" ?

Great.

You may try to install the 3 "Visual Studio Client Detector Utility" updates if you like.

Yes it is listed failed then succeeded.

Accidently did all remaining updates. I don't have any updates left after checking twice.

Should I run SFC or DISM scans to confirm integrity or any other steps?

I do have three 'other' items on my device manager - it's related to my bluetooth module, they go away when it's disabled.

Great that Windows Update is finally up-to-date.
You may run the command sfc /scannow in an elevated commandprompt. Report the result.

If they do not show a red cross or yellow exclamation mark I wouldn't bother. A device connected to this machine can support these when needed.

The log is clean, no need to run dism.
I think we're finally done in this thread. Looking back at the initial post it was posted 1,5 years ago!

Crazy times! I'm going to reinstall my HP Printer, do a full back up image and attempt to upgrade to windows 10.
