Problem with windows update - now boots to black screen with cursor. SFC & DISM no longer work. Can't repair.

Maybe it was an micro sd adapter I had in my sd card slot? I can pull that out.
It's only been in there a couple weeks though.

Yes, do that.
Restart the machine then try to install KB2919355.
If it fails, attach the files C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log and C:\Windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log.
 
Found it under Genesys Logic USB3.0 Card Reader - I will disable and try again.

  3. Press the Fix button.

  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.

4. You will likely receive a prompt that the publisher of the driver cannot be verified. Please install the driver anyway as this message is normal.
