Good Afternoon Gary,

Thanks for your reply. I tried the uninstall command for the Windows Update KB4559309, but it failed as shown in the screenshot below. When I clicked on the OK button both the open windows closed and I was returned to the command prompt:

I shall try the SFCFix.zip update next.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Gary,

I have applied the latest SFCFix.zip (please see attached SFCFix.txt). I then rebooted the PC and the SFC /scannow command ran successfully.

The Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command went much further this time before failing with error 605 at 59.6%:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Please find attached a zip of the latest CBS.log file.

Good Morning Gary,

Thanks very much for the latest updates. I have run the FRST application and applied the provided fixlist.txt using the Fix button (please see attached output Fixlog.txt).

I am next going to reboot the computer before applying the latest SFCFix.zip...

Hi Gary,

After rebooting the computer, I have applied the latest SFCFix.zip (please see attached SFCFix.txt). I then rebooted the computer again. The reboots took a little while with the Windows Update for April, KB5012599, being successfully applied (please see attached screenshot of Windows update history). :-)

Following the second reboot, the SFC /scannow command completed successfully. I then ran the DISM /RestoreHealth command, which also completed successfully this time: :-)

C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.844

Image Version: 10.0.19043.1645

[==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation completed successfully.
The operation completed successfully.

So the Windows Update issues on my computer seem to have been successfully resolved. Are there any other actions that I should now perform? I have started taking weekly snapshots of the computer disks to a backup USB drive using Macrium.

Thank you so much to you and your colleague for all the excellent support you have given over the past few weeks in resolving these issues. Thank you for all your patience and the very clear instructions provided throughout.

Kind regards,
Steven

You're welcome. I'm glad we were able to help you.

Have you tried updating yet ?

If not, please try, and let me know if you were successful.

If not, please post your latest CBS.log

As far as precautions go, a regular backup strategy is the surest protection, and Macrium is a well respected program that many people use.

Thanks for your kind reply, Gary.

I have checked Windows for new updates and successfully installed KB5012157 just now (April 25, 2022-KB5012157 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 20H2, Windows Server, version 20H2, Windows 10 Version 21H1, and Windows 10 Version 21H2).

So the Windows updates seem to be working fine and the Windows system is up to date. Also now that System Restore is enabled on the computer, hopefully in case of any future Windows update issues, I can revert back to an earlier restore point.

I think this problem can now be marked as SOLVED.

Thanks once again for all your great help and support.

Great, that's what we like to hear.

In that case I've marked this topic as solved.

Glad we could help. If you ever have any further problems, you know where we are. (y)
