Hi jhgreene,

Thank you for the log. We need to narrow down the problem further as that log has unfortunately been of no use.

Please attempt to install one update that fails. When/if the update fails to install, please provide the following information:
  • KB number of the update
  • Associated error code
  • ZIP up and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Thank you.

Hi Lt

Getting odd I think.

The failed updates displayed (modern) are KB2825645 and KB2596787 and not the long list of ones previously shown
The windows update history (modern) shows nothing.
I downloaded KB2596787 and it failed immediately at detection indicating it was 32 bit - my sys is 64 bit
as no processing had been done I did the same with KB2825645 - it failed during detection too

Looking at classic Windows update history shows a bunch of 32bit kbs

i can 'hide' these 2 updates and try again ??

THANKS

Hi LT

I want to get this fixed as efficiently as possible for us both. I will take your advice. Please consider all options. I draw the line at a wipe and clean install.... As long as my data and apps are ok ....

If you want me to do a repair install with the ISO I will

As before please advise how you want it run and what logs etc you need to confirm completion

As ever LT, thank you

Cheers
Jeremy

In anticipation of your reply i ran a win10 repair install from a mounted iso. it ran for a while downloaded updates and prepared for the upgrade and they stopped without any warning or error message.

Hi Jeremy,

Which Anti-Virus and Firewall are you currently using? If you are using anything other than Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, I suggest you uninstall the software.

Then perform a clean boot (instructions below) and reattempt the repair install.
