Problems Win 10 update and DISM Error: 0x800f081f

Hello Jeremy,

The process of performing the physical to virtual conversion has various different factors, but should take around an evening in time. You would initiate the process, and wait until completion. From here, you would need to upload to an FTP site - this will unfortunately take a considerable amount of time. Possibly two days. This means your computer would need to be left connected to the Internet for the duration. In this time you will be able to use your computer normally, but it must not be disconnected from the Internet. From here, you would not need to do anything else. The work/fixes we would perform may take up to a week.

Ultimately, the decision is yours.

As for transferring your apps - to my knowledge this can only be accomplished with the use of paid-for software. You may wish to consider looking into the following: Feature Overview - LaplinkĀ® Software

Hi LT

1) Thanks
2) Given that my laptop works mostly i think the virtualization option is overkill and too burdensome on us both
3) choices therefore are a) do nothing
b) clean install and reload s/w

would reverting to W7 given us more options or chances to fix without having to reinstall all the apps

3) b) will take ages, so I may persevere with 3) a) until i have a good chunk of time spare...

do you have have a link to instructions for a clean install or some canned step by steps.....

does this get the prize for the longest repair convo ?

are we done till next time ? (hehe)

you've been a star, in case i haven't told you

cheers
jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

You cannot use the option to revert back to Windows 7 as this option is only available within the first month of upgrading.

Instructions on how to perform a fresh install can be found below:
Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help

Select If you chose to create installation media followed by How to perform a clean installation of Windows for instructions.

Please ensure you've double-checked all personal files, etc have been backed up prior to starting the process.
