[SOLVED] Repeated BSOD Win Vista Starter 32 bit

Alright... borrowed a mobile from a friend and took these pictures of my Computer monitor.

As you may see that in Blue screen -- it asks for a BIOS Update and errors are - A5, 11, 06, 00, 00.

Next in BIOS it has a - BIOS Upgrade - button -- which asks for a Floppy drive with BIOS Update....

See the 2 pictures attached--

As I have no personal experience with flashing a BIOS on a Biostar motherboard and would rather not risk providing incorrect instructions, I'd suggest you email Biostar for support on the BIOS update issue.

Before going further, checked Power supply in Computer. It had 2 blown / leaky capacitors. Changed the power supply box. Also replaced the spike guard....it now has a good quality fuse and an act as a spike guard rather than an extension box. Everything else seems to be okay.
Finally, after trial and error.... The CD given by manufacturer with purchase of computer had a disk with program for BIOS Update, It looks similar to the one in procedure pdf file of BIOSTAR on webpage. That biosupdate worked successfully picking up the update and flashing it. Upon restart, there was an anxious moment as computer did not start after shutdown... CMOS battery reset was done to bring computer back to desktop...It was a surprise to see Bios-screen in big letter spalshing as BIOSTAR before picking up Windows logon and coming to desktop screen. Please see the pictures attached.

It clearly shows in System Information - BIOS is updated. (version is same but date shows 2010-06-30).

Now, we wait for a week or so to see if boot up problem doesn't come up again... due to junkware or drivers issues or freewares..
...so far computer starts up very quickly due to SSD and things seem to be smooth.

In the meantime, why I was unable to download from Biostar webpage.... ? Is anything wrong in Network drivers or settings? Any idea?
This needs to be looked in to as well. We continue...

Everything else works network wise, so I doubt it was your network. I suspect there was an issue due to you using something that has been abandoned and no longer receives updates/support.

Let's see if the power supply was the cause.

Power supply was replaced with new one as I had mentioned earlier....
Internet issue persists while visiting a few webpages like the Biostar for download (as mentioned earlier).
Is there any error in settings or network card remains to be sorted out....
I tried to dig deeper into it .... see the files attached.
This may also be compared to the earlier issue -- Windows OS and other updates were getting installed via Win Update but not Win Defender Updates...
Selective net connection ????..... or server issue..... ???? or settings on my computer not proper...SSL, TLS, etc. ?
This problem is yet to be resolved....

Like I said, this may be an issue with your browser no longer being supported as Microsoft Windows Vista was abandoned in 2017. Websites have to ensure their security against malicious drive-by attacks and therefore elevate their security protocols used and introduced new features, so I would not be surprised if you are being blocked.

Solution for XP users after Chrome discontinues XP and Vista support since Chrome 50

You are 26 versions behind now on Chrome and 12 on Slimjet. You have to understand that technology advances and therefore computers and software have to be upgraded. That's how life works.

Aha... Hmmm.... Try to visit Slimjet webpage and click on Download Button in Green -- new version 23.0.9.0 and it will take you to download page.
See the version available for download -- version 10 for installer setup type. See the files attached.
That is MODERN TECHNOLOGY! It is generally inaccessible. It is for a selected few.... for others it is ...like keep waiting for a Messiah...
Tell me if I am wrong. I will be glad!

By the way, the problem may not be with browser. It is with some security settings.... SSL. TLS, etc...or ISP or Server.. or blacklist cypher (whatever it may be)...

Yes, that's on your system, because the website read that you are using Windows Vista and not something more modern. Therefore, you can only see this version.

I am not talking about anything super high-end. Spending a few hundred bucks on a build or even putting something more modern into this would do wonders (like the SSD did).

Yes, the security settings due to your old and unsupported software version. If you bypass this somehow, something else is going to end up not working.

Like I said, both browsers and websites get updated in order to meet the needs of modern web development. When software is not being updated like this, the problems will follow. I experienced a similar thing a few years ago myself when I was forced to work on an old machine that did not support anything but XP while my PC was in for upgrades.

Ooooh... Win XP... my favourite ... I still have Win XP Home edition on my laptop. No complaints at all ! The best that MS ever made... such user friendly....
Rather I would say ... that I learned to use a computer on Win XP.... something that is so dear to me... I will never forget it .... the creator (MS) may forget it but not me... THE USER.

I know, many things are FORCED upon us in the name of MODERN, .... I can understand the agony that you might have gone through... but that is what happens... no one likes to look back in to past... it is history... set aside as OUTDATED... and what is new ??? Modern... it is PUNK!!!? That is the reason why so many user have switched to mobile instead of PC and Laptop. The only use they know is -- selfie , whatsapp and facebook & twitter and when one really needs a friend, no one is available...betrayed, ditched & let down... and all that circulates in their SHARING is just useless gossips, rumours, fake news....trash...junk for punk....

So much ... to warm up for the day...
Now, for the work on hand...

Yes, SSD was a good idea... no doubt...
And I did switch to MS Security Essentials.. I don't mind!
And ... not to forget... the successful BIOS Update... but I wish to put a hold on celebrations for it because there are more other issues other than BIOS...yet to address regarding computer..But the MAIN issue of BIOS update is resolved and we are waiting for a week or so till all other issues are resolved ...till then .. it is UNDER TEST...

The first problem is -- Certain Websites not connecting...irrespective of browsers. Yes all browsers are outdated because OS is Vista Starter.
But is it the only problem... or it is not the problem...something else is...or is there a work around....

See the pictures attached.

I connect internet via LAN network. I need not pay for Internet if this is the way I am to connect. (Now that is MODERN for me!)
I showed it to ISP. He said -- You get a Wireless connection. Broadband is outdated. (same words!!!!... Is it a SETUP ?????!!!)
I assured him -- That too can be hacked. Although I am not in the hacking business...
And then I asked him is your IPV 6 running? He says -- No ..it needs server.. latest one and it is costly....
(Remember Vista was the first to come up with IPV 6. Vista got outdated before I ever got to see IPV 6... say what??!!)

Just check the pictures and let me know...

(What are we doing and why? -- We are making a technical audit of my computer and its network at the USER End... for our own better understanding as to where we stand when it comes to technology). I remember Radial tyres came in first and roads were suitable only for cross ply (bias) tyres fit for cross country vehicles. And there was a rush for buying latest cars--- that's third world! And Vista Starter was made particularly for third world. No regrets!

See the pictures and tell me if the connection is wrong and what a proper Broadband connection is supposed to look like.

Your connection is fine. Broadbands can't go out of date really. Your network adapter is quite old indeed and what will happen is that you will not get the full speed on your system as in, if you are paying for a 10Gbit connection and your hardware supports only 100MBit, your network speed will be throttled, but you would not notice that in normal day-to-day usage unless downloading something extremely large like a game of several tens of GBs. It's Vista as the OS that's outdated. Many people did not get to experience IPv6 despite it being introduced in Vista (myself included). An OS comes out with far too many improvements and fixes for one to try and get to experience them all.

Please see the pictures.
This is how network connections are supposed to look.
(Compare it with previous set of pictures that were sent/attached.
Notice that in previous pictures -- Broadband connection was not connected and
the flow of internet was passing through Network (LAN) connection. It was in this
context that I mentioned that I don't have to pay for internet connection to ISP.

What you said about speed, etc may be right. But you cannot go uphill in top gear.
Your car needs to be in 1st gear. Did we not do well with IPV4 even when IPV 6 was
an integral part of Vista? Did we need IPV 6 then? So much for advancement.... it was
a useless advancement....Before user can ever use it, it is JUNK, OBSOLETE, OUTDATED... Baaaah!!!

Anyway, there seems to be something with Network in these pictures too...
Local Area Connection was supposed to show as Access -- Limited Connectivity.
Is it due to ISATAP ?

Let me know...

They look different. What you need want depends on your hardware/preferences/setup, but this configuration is apparently incorrect.

Every technology is useless at first to some users who are either not willing to pay more for it or simply do not have the need/hardware to use it fully. Those who needed it, used it and use it today as well.

The fact that your Local Are Connection is showing limited connectivity means that something is wrong and the system is not giving you full access.

You checked but not fully ...
I was of the view that Local Area Connection SHOULD HAVE shown Limited Connectivity, that is Local Access to network only and NOT INTERNET. And only Broadband Connection for which I pay should have shown both -- Local & Internet-- which ofcourse it is showing.
But Local Area Connection shows both -- Local & Internet -- Access.
In that case I get internet without connecting through broadband password. I get it without paying.
Even without going for Broadband Connection I get internet connection via Local Area Connection.
To me it looks like internet hacking/mining which is not what I intend to do.

Besides, I again got a STOP Bluescreen on startup - Error A5 , 11 , 06, 00, 00. This means system configuration is wrong. I made an error during installation or drivers are wrong . Am I right? What to do -- reinstall only drivers or full OS and Drivers?

At this point we are dealing with unknown hardware failure that is causing the BSODs. That's the obvious conclusion since the windows has been reinstalled.

This has nothing to do with drivers or installation. Once you determine what's causing the BSODs, replace that (there have been several hardware failures here already and there are more apparently).

Once the component has been replaced, the BSODs should stop.

Swap parts one by one... means what am I to do ... remove and replace.. I have only 1 PC.
Any freeware tools that can do some diagnostics -- we did for hard drive, RAM, ...
Hard drive, RAM, Monitor.... cleared.
Power supply replaced...so it is cleared...
Cd Drive also can be considered cleared...
Loudspeakers also can be considered cleared...
keyboard & mouse ?????
Motherboard..???
Video Card...???
Audio card..???
Graphics Card...???
Where to start from?
Besides if colour of monitor screen changes to red or blue, what could be failing .... another capacitor?
And even after BIOS Update, if BIOS date slips tp Jan 1 2010, then CMOS is getting reset by itself...
Yes I need to dig deep into it.... if nothing else then a learning experience. But if succeeded in a total repair for a moment ...
... it will be a celebration time !

Any freeware tool....
