Absolutely. Most people don't care to know/assist like this which is fine. In your case (and this is specific to this thread) here's what you can do to speed up the process.

1. Open up the CBS.log in notepad and start at the bottom and search up for "Error " <--- that's the word Error with a space after it (don't include the quotation marks)
2. You will see a line that resembles the following.

3. Open up the previous SFCFix.txt file and simply replace the blue portion shown below with the red portion that you identified from Step#2

4. Save the fix and process it through.
5. Attempt to install IE11 and then review the CBS.log again.
6.Repeat until you get a different error than Failed. Attempted to uninstall a version of a non-driver

Step#1 - System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
    button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

I suspect we'll still find issues however. Go ahead and try to install IE again and then if it fails please send me a current CBS.log.

At least we know the 66 or so components that IE looks for when attempting to install. I may be able to use that information to come up with something. I think we need to tell your machine that IE9 & IE10 are not installed on your machine. If I can get a current copy of your components and software hives I can give it a shot. Please follow the instructions at the end of this post.

Retrieve Components/Software Hives

  • Please download the Freeware RegBak from here or if you still have it installed from earlier you can just use the copy you already have: Acelogix Software - Download products
    You will find it at the bottom of the page that the link brings you to.
  • Go ahead and install this program and accept all the defaults. After the last install screen the program should open.
  • Click the New Backup button. Accept the defaults and simply click Start.
  • When it says Finished successfully, click the Close button.
  • This will bring you back to the main screen of the program. You will see an entry in this list with the date that you did it. You may see others so please pick the correct one. Right-click on this line-item and select Explore Backup...
  • This will bring you into the folder where the backup was made. You should see a Users folder and a Windows folder along with a couple other files. Double-click on the Windows folder to open it. Then open the System32 folder and then config folder. You should see around 6 files in here, two of which are named COMPONENTS and SOFTWARE.
  • Copy these two files to your Desktop. If the COMPONENTS file does not exist, please fetch it instead from C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.
  • Now right click on these files on your desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Then please upload the zip file(s) to your favourite file sharing website (it will be too big to upload here). Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in a PM to me. Note: Don't post the link in the public forum as your software hive has sensitive information. Please ensure to PM me the link.
  • You can close any open windows you have as well as the RegBack program now.
