[SOLVED] Server 2008 R2 Cant update IE 10

The FixIt that you ran uninstalled 9 the same way we did 10 & 11. Can you try going to Windows Update? See if it shows IE9 or IE10 or IE11. Install any updates that you can including IE. See if it works. Thanks.

The only important update to install was IE 10. I tried it and it failed error 9c59.

Thanks. Let me put together next steps. If we get past the following error I think we have a chance at installing it.

Can you tell me what happens when you try to open up Internet Explorer? Does it open with Version 8 or do you get an error? Thanks.

Brian,
yes that is the file. I'm sorry but didn't read the whole error dialog last night. It says Setup can't continue because a more recent version of IE is installed on this machine.

Ahhh...that's what I was looking for. OK so your machine thinks you have IE 10 then. I'll come up with next steps and be back with you.

Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - Attempt to Install IE 11 Again

Download the offline installer for IE 11 from here. Try installing with the offline installer. If it fails, please send me the following two logs.
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
C:\Windows\IE11Main.log

Thank you.

Still no go.
It may be a little...we'll likely go back and forth like this for many iterations.
