Disabling is usually not good enough. Are you able to ask your IT Department to do this temporarily? Does your IT Department know that you are working with me and are they OK with it?

I'm from IT dept but AV is being handle by AV team. Let me check with them if uninstalling is possible

Not able to uninstall AV but i have found SOFTWARE file backup. Tried to do xcopy via recovery but couldn't see C:\windows at the command prompt.
I have unchecked "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

Is there any other way i can copy the backup file to \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE?

There are several ways to accomplish this. Please try the following.

SOFTWARE Hive Replacement with RegBak

  1. Close all open programs and save all your work. You will need to reboot the machine during this process.
  2. Copy the recovered SOFTWARE hive to where you previously saved a backup. It should be (C:\Windows\RegBak\PC-NAME\DATE\Windows\System32\Config)
  3. 2014-10-1818_56_49-config_zpscbb8aad0.png
  4. Overwrite the one that is currently there when prompted.
  5. Open RegBak by Click Start and selecting Registry Backup and Restore. Highlight the backup in the list (it should be the only one), and press Restore.
  6. Click Advanced Options and uncheck everything except the Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE hive and click OK.
  7. Click Start and confirm that you want to restore the selected registry hive. RegBak will reboot your computer to complete the restore process after you click OK on the informational prompt that appears.

Hi;

As per instruction i manage to copy the file and now there is no more alert post boot alert. Is there any side effect of this change that i need to be aware of or it just a straightforward process.

Any software that may have been installed after the date of the SOFTWARE hive will likely not work. Also, try to install updates and if they fail and you wish to troubleshoot them, let me know.
