Hi there,
I recently posted this query (sfc /scannow problem) on Microsoft Technet, but I feel a bit stuck with the advice I'm recieving!
Can anybody here help?
Sorry if this is in the wrong category!...

I was going to edit my initial post (no edit button!) to include, I ran sfc & dism/restorehealth, then tried to run SFCFix but it just keeps crashing out!?
=============================================================
SFCFix Has Crashed

Something has gone horribly wrong and SFCFix has crashed. Would you like SFCFix
to submit a crash report to the developer so that this problem can be fixed?
Type "y" for yes or "n" for no and press enter to continue:

Any ideas? Here is my CBS.log file:

Rann sfc /scannow again today, always stops at 59% with error: Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
I tried running SFCFix (with admin rights!) straight after, but it's still crashing! Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Sorry for all the replies, I didn't realise you only had 15min's before you couldn't edit your post anymore! Here's the SFCFix.txt & CrashDump.dmp zip file:

OMG! :r1:, the file was too large so I ran out of time trying to upload! :banghead:
Here's the link for the SFCFixCrashDump.zip:==>> WeTransfer

Hello and welcome!

Please do not multiple post but post only once and wait for an analyst to reply.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service and just provide the link here.

I anticipated you'd might ask that, so I ran sfc /scannow straight after, but it returns the same result as always, it stops at 59% with the same error: Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
Just in case you need it, here's the latest CBS log file:++>>

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Try running SFC just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.
11908d1430506241-windows-updates-fail-repeatedly-stop-jpg

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
    Code:
tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
